Forums - Sony Discussion - Is Killzone 2 in danger of falling below 90 on metacritic ?

Have Variety reviewed it yet?

If not, that's a guaranteed 8/10 or lower right there.

Keep in mind that of those 36 reviews, 34 are 90 or above...so for it to drop below basically almost all of those reviews remaining will have to be below 90 OR some sites are going to have to give it very VERY low scores.

6/10

I dont think Metacritic uses their scores,  at least I've never seen them listed on there.

You never here the end of it regardless of the score. Members rarely accept the value given. Either it is overrated, or it is underrated. They will scream about a conspiracy or bias playing a role in the games score. They will attack singular reviewers as being unreliable or self serving. Then you have the one thing that all but guarantees the trash talk, and that is the blowhard brigade that taunted the community at large. Basically your not going to hear the end of it for awhile. Then it will be forgotten.

Honestly I think the game will probably slip below ninety. Due to the nature of these systems a single poor review carries much more wait then a dozen positive reviews. Effectively a single low score is more powerful then a dozen perfect scores. Simply put you can have twenty perfect scores, and one score of fifty. The average would then be ninety seven. The one poor score can knock three points off of the average. There in lies the problem.

Every game is going to get a few poor reviews. The only way to stay high is too have as many perfect reviews as possible. Even Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto 4 swung seventies and eighties on a few reviews. We have yet to see those low reviews yet, because the harsh reviewers have yet to come forward. So to have slipped this far before the hard audience speaks up. Well it just doesn't bode well for this game staying over ninety. Though it will probably be in the high eighties, and as a shooter with a strong online aspect. That will always be money well spent. Regardless of what the final score will be.

In the end it will either go up or down 1 point...

Former something....

I don't give a shit about Metacritic, they can rate a game as messiah or elephant dung if they like, that has rarely, if ever, made any impact on whether or not I enjoy a game (allthough, naturally, anything rated as elephant dung would be pretty poor).

Actually 92 is about the level it needs to fall before people unwrap their crow sandwiches. That would put the game under Gears of War 1/2. Im serious about this too, such is the hype of this game that people will feel justified jumping on it for a score below Gears of War, especially as it has been hyped as the 2nd coming by some people.

Tease.

Ass backwards.  Gears 1&2 were amazing successes, and for KZ2 to score equal to or better than them would shove crow and vomit down the throats of many who said that KZ2 would suck.   To score a little less wouldn't do KZ2 discredit, and might still serve to shut early critics the fuck up.
