Couldn't Iwata mean that there are more titles released, instead of software sales?

I guess no one liked PN03?
V_V That's too bad. At least I can hope Wii Play PN03 could be realized this year.
I'm Unamerica and you can too.
The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:
I don't understand this thread, it has been known for a while Nintendo doesn't release information on many titles until relatively close to release (3-6ish months) there will be exceptions of course, like if the next Zelda was releasing this year I would imagine we would have to be told about it in the next couple of months, they won't spring Zelda on us suddenly.
Siilarly we know of Wii Sports Resort, but only 3 of 10 sports, and we know of Pikmin, but no additional details other than it being in development.

This is exactly how I intrerpreted his comments. I assumed he meant more titles - especially around the holiday period.
The rEVOLution is not being televised

"Intellectual Properties."
Read: Series.
Good question.
I am not sure. And seeing Nintendo's latest strategies is kinda hard to speculate without getting overhyped.
I do think that may give info about a new zelda but not for this year. I hope that for a new mario too.
I would like them to push the Wiiware service harder. Heck, some games based on classic franchises on that service (like mario, zelda, donkey kong) would be awesome!
I guess that on E3 we may heard more concrete stuff.
| puffy said: The biggest sellers from 2008 namely Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii will keep selling all year long. Wii Play will continue to sell big numbers. Wii Music will continue to have legs and at least double or triple it's sales. Games such as Call of Duty, Shaun White and De Blob will continue to have legs as will the casual orientated games released last year. This year the Play on Wii releases will do well as they sell to both previous owners interested in Wii controls or advanced features and also to people who never owned a GameCube. EA will be spending the same budget as they use on Madden to market EA Sports Active so expect to see that game fly off the shelves in America. You'll also see continued innovation in the All Play series with the first batch of All Play games to use Wii MotionPlus. Another potential hit is Need for Speed: Nitro, the NFS game built from the ground up for the Wii platform capturing the 'cheekiness of Nintendo' with a look that is distinctive to NFS. It will be the arcady NFS that made the older ones great and may end up beating NFS: Shift in sales due to competition from certain other race sims... From Ubisoft we'll have the casual fare but we'll also have potentially massive games in Red Steel 2 and TMNT: Smash Up. It's only January and we also know that HAWX is in the works for Wii to be released in March so look for other Ubisoft suprises all year such as another Rayman title and perhaps some more core orientated efforts Activision will bring a few top notch games to Wii too through out the year.. In particular look for Guitar Hero: Metalica and Guitar Hero 5 to ignite the sales charts as will the new IP in DJ Hero. Also look for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to sell a considerable amount more than World at War on Wii. Again look for Activision to reveal more through the year. Take 2 will continue to bring their biggest titles to Wii and also expand their sports range with MotionPlus. Most of their software sales this year will be on DS as the GTA sales juggernaut continues, unless they announce another big game later in the year. Sega will rock the house with massive support in House of the Dead: Overkill, Madworld, Sonic and the Black Knight and The Conduit. That's a huge showing and that's only the first half of the year... We may also see Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics for the holidays which would continue the huge sales of the original. Crapcom will supply the Wii with a watered down port of Dead Rising that tries to be RE4 and fails but will probably garner good sales. We'll also see Spyborgs which has the possibility of being a very good quality game as well as the high possibility of another Resident Evil title. The biggest game from Capcom sales wise will be Monster Hunter 3 - and it will be a monster in itself. This will be a system seller in Japan and is guaranteed to be at least a platinum seller if it ends up being a shit game (not likely) Konami may throw Wii owners a supprise but most likely it'll be PES that hold up the fort for them Square will give Wii owners a Nintendo exclusive Final Fantasy which will sell nicely in Japan That leaves us with Nintendo.. (I'm too lazy to continue with third parties :P) - Play on Wii as stated above - Wii Sports Resort - PunchOut!! - Pikmin 3 - Wii series game Most likely - Mario Party 9 - Mario SPORTS game - one of F-Zero/Starfox/Excite Truck/Kirby Wii I'd also throw in KI as a possibility as well as Eternal Darkness 2 but who knows.. In conclusion we don't know much about the line up for Wii from first or third parties but I think that software sales will easily beat 2008 |
Well I still stand by what I said mostly, since then, EA have pledged much more support for Wii and also announced Dead Space Extraction which will sell over 1 million. You've also got Sega announcing Virtua Tennis 09 for Wii complete with MotionPlus support which I can only see being very popular along with EA's Grand Slam Tennis.
Wii Sports Resort, Pikmin 3, Punch-Out!!, Mario Party 9, F-Zero WX, Kid Icarus, Kirby: Legend of the Stars and most likely another Wii series game.. It seems like too much! But all of that is possible.. Nintendo is sure to have a fantastic year and the third party support will continue to grow.
Wait for E3.. or check out what VGChartz is predicting right here: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=61097&page=1
As others said Ninty is waiting till the last minute to announce games, 4 months before release or so. My guesses would be Zelda, Pikmin 3, Starfox. Wii Sports Resort will be big because of motion plus. Endless Ocean 2, Sin & Punishment 2 look good aren't really hard hitters. Punchout looks like a flop on every level to me personally.
Honestly I stopped wondering about stuff like this a while ago, because my Wii doesn't entertain me with Nintendo announcements; it entertains me with Nintendo games. They fall out of the sky and then all is well, whether I expect them or not.
Wii hasn't had an F-Zero, a Kirby, a Star Fox, a Pikmin, a Punch-Out!, a Kid Icarus, a Nintendogs, or a Zelda that was built entirely from the ground up for the Wii.
Nintendo only needs a Wii Sports sequel and maybe 2 of those listed above to dominate. But they might try a new IP and something crazy and new that we'd never expect, like a Wii Fit or a Wii Music. I think we'll all be more than satisfied this year.
