Forums - Nintendo - What do you want the most ? New Zelda ? New Metroid or New Mario Game ?

i was actually just thinking about how much i'd love a new 2-D metroid this morning. we haven't had squat since zero mission, which was like what? '04? as for 3D, Metroid Prime is my favorite console game ever, but with echoes and corruption retro just bit off more than they could chew. echoes was great overall but suffered so much by the implementation of the ammo system for the beams, and corruption just tried too much to be a shooter and ended up losing so much of the metroid atmosphere with its attempt at being a halo clone in a couple of places, along with intrusive character interaction. corruption had some great new characters that it implemented, but the stupid AI and GF commander popping up every time you entered your ship was just too much. worse than all of that combined though, was the ridiculous load times for the doors. in prime 1 and 2, you would occasionally have to wait an extra second for the door to open. in corruption, it was not uncommon to wait a solid 5-15 seconds or so for the next room to load! it really just killed the atmosphere for me.

and zelda? i would love to get one for wii. Twilight princess ranks among my favorite games ever, but it was too easy to nitpick many aspects of it, especially graphically, where the artistry is gorgeous, but technically, it's incredibly obvious this is a 'cube port. galaxy is so far the only game i have that allows me to feel that the wii is capable of serious eye-candy, and i hope that changes soon.

speaking of which, i've got my mario fix with galaxy. i think i can put many many hours still into it before i get tired, so no rush for a new mario

Snake? Snake? Snaaaaaaaake!!!!

and yeah, i think it'd still be great to have some more wind waker action too, although that's a little hard to say considering the fact that twilight princess succeeded in making the most BAMF iteration of link ever lol

Snake? Snake? Snaaaaaaaake!!!!

A nwe Zelda game. We already have Mario and Metroid for Wii and I played them a year ago...

A real Zelda for the Wii, if it is Cell shaded....matured Cell Shaded!!! Not childish like WindWaker, fans want a mature Zelda

Since I'm currently in love with Okami, I'd prefer a new Zelda because I'm all in for action-adventures currently. I'd take anything Zelda related, be it a game in the vein of TP, a cel-shaded game on the Wii or even a 2D game (actually I prefer those over the 3D itinerations).

Actually I'm more of a Marioboy though so if it wouldn't be for Okami I'd go with a new Mario game. Again, I'd take anything here, NSMB 2 for example or a 2D Mario for the Wii, a sequel to Galaxy or something completely new.

I'm not so much into Metroid and I've yet to play MP 3 (I own it, though). I'd prefer if they'd go 3rd person next time and make it even more adventurish.

But above all of those games, I am actually desperately waiting for a proper new Donkey Kong platformer to come (I was disappointed by Jungle Beat, so this doesn't count in my books). Reading through this thread, I don't seem to be the only one, so it's really about damn time.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

I personally have never had to wait more than 5 seconds for a door to open in prime 3, prime 1 & 2 on the other hand frequently gave me ~20 second loading times. I'd also like to more about this 'stupid A.I' you mention. If your talking about the enemies; they retreat, duck and use cover and are certainly smarter than any of the typical enemies in the previous primes and if you mean the GF soldiers the same goes for them. I found them to be smarter than Halos friendly A.I ( of course Metroids were required to do less but i never had an issue). I didn't like it as much as the first Prime but I found it to be better than Prime 2 as well as all of the 2D games. It's okay if you don't agree and i can sympathize to an extent why, but many of your reasons why are problems that simply don't exist.

Anyway, as far as a new Mario goes we only ge one main Mario platformer per generation and it's been like this since the SNES. A 2D Metroid would be nice but i'd prefer a Zelda as it's been ~4 years since TP and we're on cue for another one.

As much has I like the prime series, I think Nintendo should concentrate for a new Zelda Game. TP was great but, honnestly, was a cube game. So I think that we deserve a new Zelda in this generarion.

Metroid Prime 4 could be a dream but I think Retro Studio doesn't work anymore on this series (except for prime 1-2 for the wii that I can't wait...). This series is FAR better in 3-d, Yes I know that Super Metroid was a blast but Metroid Prime represent more the new generarion of Metroid Game. 2-d should only be for the DS.

1. New Zelda
2. 3rd Person Metroid. If its First-Person than Mario Wii 2

I would really like a new Metroid on the DS, a real one, not like Hunters. NEW PLAY CONTROL already has my Wii Metroid fix.

Then mayhaps the loading times are an isolated problem for me. I'm towards the end of my second playthrough (on veteran) and just yesterday I certainly waited around 12 seconds or so for a door to open.  My point being that despite the wii's technical superiority to the gamecube, the load times are actually inferior (in my experience, i suppose; compare ssb brawl to ssb melee for another reference). In my 3rd playthrough of Prime 1, I recall very very few of such instances, and I will admit that in Prime 2 they were more common, but not nearly to the infuriating extent of Prime 3.

As for the AI, forgive me, I fear I was not clear enough, I was referring to the AI as the Aurora unit characters, not the actual programming of artificial intelligence. What I meant to convey was my dislike of having so many NPC's with such a (relatively) great amount of dialogue in a series that has always done a splendid job of isolating you in a mysterious and hostile world.

I don't mean to say that Corruption is a bad game, certainly not. I only mean to say that it turned out to be a dissapointment for me because of the some of directions it took, among a few things that I suppose I'll not go into now.

And oh yes I can't wait for the next Zelda either! It's just that it's been nigh on 5 years (?) since the last new 2D Metroid, and less than 3 since a console Zelda, less for me since I've been playing it a bit as of late lol.
