lol you guys are absolutely pathetic. The controls are just as good as RE4 gamecube controls were (maybe even slightly better with the ability to make the rectile move faster...you know you have looked at the controller options right?). The only difference between using the wii controls and the traditional controllers is that the wii mote would allow greater speed and accuracy in shooting. However, the ps3 controller works fine imo, I can still pop off knee shots and arm shots with ease, and even headshots. Knifing is a piece of cake and you are meant to stop while knifing, as you are when re-loading - it's part of the game design to build tension. Also, has anyone here down a quick turn? It's easy once you get used to it and makes running and then turning 180 degrees to shoot at the executioner/chain saw guy very easy. The controls are great, and Capcom know this is as well - if you guys think the game is crap don't buy it but to say the game won't sell well b/c of negative impressions here is just ludicrous in my opinion. Also, as I said earlier, are the people complaining the same people who hated RE4 or have they never played RE4 before? From all the previews I've read (only a few on IGN) they've all been positive and taken the 'if it's not broken why change it' approach to the controls. Have people played Dead Space? There wasn't even a quick turn in that game!!!

Anyway, all I can say is that I've had a blast playing through the game. The game actually has exceeded my expectations (mainly due to co-op). The only other thing I can say is that serious thought went into the controls by Capcom and I highly doubt if they haven't changed the controls yet, they will change it before release. Still a day 1 purchase to me. Anyway, complain all you want! I'm one of the few who think it's fantastic. Everything I loved about RE4 is intact and the co-op makes it even better. Only other thing I can say though is that changing the controls will essentially break the game. The controls were NOT designed to replicate gears of wars, or w/e. The controls were designed to build tension as you are constantly fighting to stay alive (but kicking ass at the same time).

yep.  The controls are better than GC/PS2 RE4, and I believe that game did quite well.

I honestly couldn't tell the difference between RE 4 and RE 5's controls. Some minor differences but they work about the same.

However, those controls, which were flawed three years ago, are simply not as effective as they used to. Especially when you compare them to the recent third person blockbusters like Uncharted, Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid, Dead Space and even Dark Sector to a certain extent.

Don't get me wrong, it looks like a fine game, but definitely not the ground breaking game that RE4 was for the last gen.

lol it does seem like you are controlling a tank!!

Wii owners this is one high-profile HD console exclusive you have no need to be jealous or feel bad on not having.

in fact RE4 Wii has better controls!

Shhh! Don't say this or you'll be called a Nintendo fanboy like I was in the other thread.

one thing for sure is that guy sucks using anolog controlers.

why buy a Ps360 when these people know theyre going to suck hard?

Indeed, they should add a tag on those machines: only for Gods like GlorySoGlory. Lesser people need not buy this.

For someone with a gamerscore of 3475 you have a ridiculously big mouth about others. 90% of the people on this and other forums think the controls suck, so don't act like everything is fine. If you like them: good for you.

And btw; Chris moves much slower than Leon in RE4.

(and yeah, I know my GS is much lower, I have the thing 2 months, but I at least beat more Wii games than you did 360 ones)

I see your Wii game collection no offence but they are all easy to me.

Benga benga: did you beat Luigi's level in Galaxy? Heh..I don't know what this is about but it's funny.

Edit: and to stay on topic: I played some co-op today and it's a lot of fun. The split-screen for co-op is awesome for my TV (66") because it doesn't use the whole screen and therefore gives you the correct display ratio. It's smaller, sure, but it's not as disoreinting going from single player to co-op.

Edit 2:  Also, I didn't feel like Chris moved much slower.  Does the girl move faster and Chris has more health or something?  If necessary I'll put RE4 and RE5 side by side and try them both because I have 2 TVs set up and my PS2 on the 2nd...

Since the average PS3 opinion was a little more positive than the 360 one, I switched to Type A controls. This does control a lot better, especially for the knife. I'll keep it with that. Strafing be damned.

However Chris is really slow, his arms feel like they weigh a 100 pounds (which they probably are) and he turns like a tank. Yesterday I tried the demo back to back with RE4 with GC controls and Leon is much and much more agile and aims faster. Sheva controls more like Leon, so it's more about Chris than about the game.

Oh and I have 176 stars, so I didn't beat Luigi's run, but do have all the Mario stars.

How does knife control better with Type A? I was really excited to be able to strafe, so it would be hard for me to give that up.

I'll have to play more with Shiva and Leon in RE4 I think.

Just asked about Galaxy because that Luigi stage (for Mario) was pretty hard. Not all Wii games are easy, so I'm not sure why he said that... Actually, RE:UC was so hard that I ended up cheating to finish it because it was a rental. Granted, part of the annoyance was the control in that not feeling right to me.

Alright, I'll try this, though my expectations aren't very high, after the almost unanimous disapproval.

Knife control in Type A is Left trigger + X button (Square I think) and Shooting is Right Trigger + X. That really brings more balance (and also makes breaking barrels much less of an issue).

It's too bad you have to make a choice between good knife controls or strafing, but I choose the knife.

And yeah, Galaxy isn't easy at all. The first 70 stars or so are, but after that it becomes an oldschool hardcore platformer. Even more so in Luigi's playthrough. Didn't have too much trouble with UC, but it's definitely not an easy game.
