Well now that we've got the sales polls out of the way for the New Year (anyone upset that we're not doing DS and PSP?), we're going to see what kinds of games VGChartz likes to play.  Since there are only six possible options, and since there are far more geners than that number, I've decided to run this as a series of three polls.  The first week we'll vote on six choices.  Next week we'll do six different choices.  And on the third week we will put the top three from each poll together for one final grudge match.

I'm sure that there will be genres missing.  I also haven't differentiated between certain genres (JRPG vs WRPG, FPS vs third person-shooter).  We can split hairs all day about which games belong in which genre and which classification of each genre for years to come....so I've just erred on the side of generality.

But feel free to explain why you voted for the genre you chose.  And tell us exactly which kind of game exemplifies your favorite for the week.

So which genre do you prefer?  Action/Adventure, Fighter, Flight Simulator, Puzzle, RPG, or Sports?

Happy Voting!

Fighter.
I dont feel like playing epic games all the time. Nothing like a good old fighter with a story mode.=)

Action/Adventure.

Mainly because it tends to have the most diversity in its gameplay and objectives, and has the most potential to expand upon its previous benchmarks.

Action/Adventure

FPS's don't make me feel like I'm the hero. It just makes me misjudge my jumps.
RPG's don't really let me play a role, so much as build stats.
Fighters show me how much I suck in my old age.

Definitely RPG, you get your moneys worth with RPG's, I like the fact that you have a weak very unpopular character and after hours of gameplay turn him into this big warrior. If I can put 100 hours into a game and still have fresh material in it then I'll be very happy.

RPG

I find this to be a terrible poll. Where is strategy as an option? None of your broad categories covers it, yet you have such a narrow genre as flight sims? Not just simulators in general, which would follow your broad categories ideal, but the dying genre of flight sims. Also, how does one categorize driving games? Action? Sports? No offense, but it seems like you might not have put much thought into this.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

RPG

My first game was an RPG (The Legend of Zelda) and I hope that my last game is an RPG.  My all time favorite game is an RPG (Xenogears).  I hope there are many more to come.

"No offense, but it seems like you might not have put much thought into this."

This applies to you.  Read the OP before you post next time.

Sports

If sports includes rally racing games, strangely compelled to play them. Yay generalness.
