Well, in about a decade or so, games will be a download market (for the main part), and the consoles will all have SSDs. So, yeah, flash media will be used to store video games.

I heard the next playstation will have them..... I am just kidding.
Never. Next step id digital distribution via internet. There may be some use for solid state drives if they become cheaper.
Carts are doing better than ever. The GBA and DS made sure of that. Flash memory is far superior for portables.

If? More of a case of when. I highly suspect that at least one of the consoles next generation will use SSD, and by the next one... it'll be bog standard shit.
We'll have phones with 100s of gigs of secondary memory by then, and gigs of main memory (at the very least).
Not for home consoles no. Handhelds will likely stick with them for a while. Flash memory will probably overtake discs at some point in the future. Still, no need to worry about such things for a while.

@NJ5: That's true. Although, were yet to see what the tech is capable of and the current tech is (once again) reaching its limits. Current trend is to add number of processors to improve performance, which propably all manufacturers want to get rid of.
@Demotruck: Basically altering the order of quarks in a hadron. If that can be done, one hadron would be more than one bit.
Although, the process would require hadrons to split into quark-gluon plasma, where the quarks would be "free" (except for pions, but that's a little different). Of course, i'm not saying that the process wouldn't require energy and it could be done ever. All i'm pointing out is, that Dodeces "atom model" isn't the "be all, end all".
@Dodece: Maybe you should have pointed out in the first place what you were meaning. Citing to "quantum" is a little too broad term.
There are twelve different type of quarks (including anti-quarks), basically, as Demotruck pointed out, they define what type of hadron is in question. How to use that as a memory solution, is a different matter.
Again, we don't need to go to atoms if we just want to use the spin, since electrons has their spin aswell.
Anyway, i doubt the diamonds (as they currently stand as the best material for the type of storage) are either anything that would hit the laws of physics in terms of storage.
One thing i do agree: if we want to discuss the subject further, this needs its own topic.
