Forums - Microsoft - Has anyone bought a Intercooler for their Xbox 360?

I'm just curious cause I'm extremely thinking about purchasing one its called "Nyko Intercooler" this is the one thats white and have a plastic power surge and I read reviews that stated that it melts to the X360 and burns it. So Nyko sent out another Intercooler called "Nyko Intercooler EX" its a better version but instead of the plastic power surge for the plug its metal. Nothing happened to my Xbox 360 yet cause I use it for 2 hours and turn it off and I'm in a cool room considering my A/C is on in my room and I have my floor fan(box fan) blowing on it to cool it off to. But throughout the reviews should I purchase the Nyko intercooler or is there more ways to cool off a Xbox 360??

And P.S.- My Xbox 360 is in the open, where as some people put it in there entertainment center. Mines is on a small piece of an entertainment piece that is sitting in the middle of the floor. Weird but it works!!

 The regular caused this--->

This is what the Nyko Intercooler does:

Avoid it, since they can royally screw up the power plug.

I'd wait for some time before picking this up after what happened to the last version. It'll void your warranty if they figure out a 3rd party item was the cause of your 360 dying and if similar issues arise, I imagine that's not something very hard to identify being the problem.

yeah, its sitting in a box on top of my closest...

You thought that the 360 was loud?? add on this little thing and be amazed!

Not at all. I know many 360 owners who share the same sentiment.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

I have one, its installed and its loud. Bought it about 6 months ago. It seems to have quieted down quite a bit since it was new though.

I was wary of all the electrical burn reports but it seems like most of these problems were from the intial batches (circa 2005/early 2006). Nyko at the time said they were "addressing the issue" and then I couldnt find any more recent reports on the subject, good or bad.

I guess they fixed it, I have 2 friends with them and they havent had an issue so far. They seem to still be widely sold so, Id hope that if it was an ongoing widespread problem they would have pulled them by now.

It does pull alot of hot air though...

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )

Leave it in an enclosed space turned on until it RRoDs. A TV console that has compartments w/ doors to place hardware would be perfect. ;)

it sounds like a garbage truck driving through your living room... i am going to get rid of mine

Buy the Pelican cooler that runs off the USB port. No way you can void the warranty if you don't tell them it was there when it failed (unlike the Nyko system where they can often see scorch marks where the unit sat).
