Im afriad R2 was advertised more then Gears 2s "last day" trailer.
About competition.........the only game you mentioned that was a fps was COD: WAW. But not even that can be responsible as it didnt impact Gears 2 sales in the least.

We shall see soon enough I guess when its released.

And I am concerned with their sales because it is my business to be concerned with anything that remotely threatens my Gods.

Oh easily, would say within 3 months it will do it at worst. TBH I would be really surprised if the game does not outsell MGS4, after all it is part of a very big genra unlike MGS4.

Indeed it most likely will sell huge since Cod 5 was latest good Fps on Ps3,and many people like me didin't care for it too much

Not only will it outsell Resistance 2 by a considerable amount, it will probably outsell CoD4 as well.

That's a bold statement, but I hope you are right.

It helps that KZ2 is exclusive, similar to Gears, but CoD4 outsold both Gears games on 360...

my oh my, in that little world you live in, 95% of the gaming industry has flopped. do you realize that there are games out there that barely sell 60K. Taking jabs at sony is cool and all but please make sense while you're at it.
