Forums - Nintendo - Which Games Would You Buy If Atari 2600 Games were Available on VC?

For argument's sake, let's say they're 200 points each.

I know I'd buy Pitfall and Keystone Kapers in a flash at that price. Pitfall because it's the archetypal 2600 platformer, and Keystone Kapers because I love to dance :).

Does anyone think there's a chance we'll see 2600 titles on the VC in the future?

Dig Dug and Moon Patrol.

Dark cavern and pit fall.

Yes it might sine its a an american console i think. or we could get the games that were on Ataris 8-bit family computers like the way japan and europe got the MSX and Commodore 64.

Adventure, Pitfall, and Atlantis come off the top of my head. I might even try E.T. just for the heck of it.

Why is this in the Nintendo forum? How about Gaming Discussion?

...

Oh, and, none...pioneer maybe, but I think Atari is horrible.

I'd get Dig Dug, Moon Patrol, Pit Fall, Pole Position and a few of those silly really bad sports games. Any game I got I know would be just for nostalgia and to have for the hell of it. The reality is that most of those games were really bad and I grew up playing them firsthand. I don't think console games really became good fun games with true replay value until the 8 bit era. They also would have to be very cheap for me to consider them. And for that reason, I don't think Atari games will come to the VC. I don't think too many people would be interested in them for anything more than 300 or 400 points. The developers might not even consider it worth working on nor Nintendo if they can't get much for them and sales aren't very high.

I'll come up with something better eventually...

Pit Fall, Asteroids, Defender thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

Seriosuly thoguh I think the Sega Saturn is next in line to show up on the VC.

Pitfall, Moon Patrol, Jungle Hunt, Vanguard, Adventure. That would at least be a good start.

Pitfall might be the easiest.
The company that owns it still exists (Activision).
The game was hidden in Pitfall: The Mayan Adventures -- so code that could easily be modified probably exists (it ran on the SNES and Genesis).

There are a couple of obstacles to this concept -- though I personally love it. The games are so old that most people don't remember them. And licenses may be difficult to obtain for many of the best games.

But there are a couple of advantages. Games were much more casual then -- play-through time was measured in minutes and high scores provided replayability. So they fit the Wii demographic.

Back to the OP -- Warlords.

Somehow, I don't think if this does happen any titles from Swedish Erotica will show up on the VC.

And if it does, maybe Intellivision games would be next. But in NA, we still don't have C-64 stuff.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
