I don't think the game was canceled so much because of a lack of Wiimote sensitivity as it was a lack of fun. Nothing is bringing this game back.

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
That's what I'm thinking, too--they said they wanted to have the Motion+ technology in the Wiimote to begin with, but it was too expensive. I think thy were developing the game with it in mind.
ye i think this game is dead in the water... i dont think nintendo will bring it back into development
... but then again who knows, it seems that nintendo are trying hard to bring out new ip's or at least ip's that haven't made an appearance in quite a while so i guess theres always hope
edit: come to think of it this gmae would be really cool with motion+

Could someone explain to me exactly what Project H.A.M.M.E.R. is? I've never really been clear on that. I know it's a Wii game that got canceled, but what did we know about the game?

It was a beat'em up staring a guy who swung a big hammer at Robots. The name and videos we saw suggested that you'd only ever be swinging a big hammer at robots. It looked mildly entertaining for a few minutes, but an entire game based on it would be dreadful.

Yeah I agree with Stof. I doubt the lack of 1:1 had much to do with it. A couple games with this same idea of using swing motion to fight - Dragon's Blade and Soul Calibur Legends did come out. Dragon's Blade is actually mix it up quite a bit but still, how long do you want to be swinging that remote around? It gets old, quick. H.AM.M.E.R. probably died from lack of fun.
Ubisoft had the right idea with Red Steel. Now there's a game that will be 100x better with WM+.

This is why I think Suda51 got the right approach with NMH.
