Forums - Gaming Discussion - Seven Things Microsoft Can Teach Sony and Nintendo

#7 seems a bit odd. Only one console can be released first and Sega Saturn and Dreamcast (and, wii) proved that being first doesn't mean it'll be best.

Activities

Training on Wii Fit is divided into four categories: yoga, strength training, aerobics, and balance games. The activities provide a core workout, emphasizing controlled movements rather than overexertion. Activities include:

Balance Games - Get into the action with fun, balanced-based games

  • Football Heading (also known as "Soccer Heading")
  • Ski Jumping
  • Ski Slalom
  • Snowboard Slalom
  • Table Tilt - The player must shift their balance to get balls into holes.
  • Tightrope Walk - The player must cross a tightrope avoiding the bear traps.
  • Balance Bubble - The player attempts to navigate down a river in a bubble without bursting it on the sides.
  • Penguin Slide - The player has to catch fish while balanced on a piece of ice.
  • Lotus Focus - The player must remain motionless while looking at a flame.

''Balance Bubble - The player attempts to navigate down a river in a bubble without bursting it on the sides.''

WOW, i am convinced, i am buying wii fit right away

Dude, be realistic, these are just some miny game for practice. The point of wii fit is people to get fit and do yoga.

Even if you don´t like it, still is a game...

1. Agree

2. Agree (i mean, look at how much the gaming media loves Microsoft. It's a shot in the arm for anyone)

3. Meh

4. Meh (now, if they could actually make that Netflix free for users, you'd have something)

5. Agree

6. Ehh. Certainly Microsoft snatches exclusives, but then they get the reputation for moneyhatting. Obviously some of them of come across simply because of 360's sales, but others were equally obvious moneyhats

7. Disagree. RRoD, anyone?

Odd that where Microsoft excels are precisely the regions where Nintendo is weakest. It's a neat contradiction

Mario, Zelda, Mario, Zelda, Mario, Zelda, Mario, Zelda, Mario, Zelda, Mario, Zelda... Its pretty damn easy to make 2 good games and than just upgrade the graphics and characters just like Nintendo is doing. Sony and Microsoft are at least trying to make new characters and new stories. If Sony worked 20 years on Medievil just like Nintendo worked 20 years on Mario, Medievil games would be pure 10 today. Like i said its pretty easy to make 1 or 2 characters and than upgrading them step by step for 20 years. Any company can do that
You're right. Nintendo NEVER creates new IPs. It's all Mario and Zelda. That's why the biggest Nintendo games over the past five years have been Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Nintendogs, and Brain Age.
What? Thats stupid. You cant count a game which is sold together with console. Wii sports is together with wii in the box.And which character did you find the best in wii sports?  Wii fit is not a game, its a Nintendo's way to beat its gaming competitors without actuall games.

Why does it not count as a new IP that Nintendo has created because it's a pack-in game?  It's at least somewhat arguable that the sales should not count (a losing argument IMO), but its EXISTENCE is impossible to deny.  Or so I thought until now.

Also, Pikmin.

So, i guess if Sony sold Tekken 4 together with PS2, Tekken 4 would be the best game in the history because it sold over 140 millions together with PS2? I am sorry but sales doesent make the game good at all. You cant play sales, can you? And since Wii sports is new IP i am asking you, which character did you liked the best in wii sports?

Wii Sports has to be one of the most influencial games of all time. It showed off what the Wii was capable of and expanded the gaming market. If that's not a good game then I don't know what is.

Also, people who think there are no new IP's tend to ignore games like Geist, Eternal Darkness, Captain Rainbow, Disaster: Day of Crisis, and tons of other games that Nintendo create.

I love how it just becomes "Mario, Zelda, and Metroid."

So wait, bundled games doesn´t count as a new IP because you don´t want to ??? Wii-fit is not a game?? Man are you being serious or are you just trying to make us laugh???

And about the best character I find the best in Wii sports?? My Mii of course XD

Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about.

For one thing, Wii fit has scores and objectives to beat and top. That alone makes it a game. How is it NOT a game, is what I'd ask you?

Snake is either a deluded fanboy or a troll. Stop trying to argue with him regardless.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Sony bring New IP'sand thats the beauty of it? The platforming genre was pretty much invented by nintendo. OOoh Sony bring out a game with pretty graphics BUT IT'S A PLATFORMER! There's not one game on the PS3 that hasnt been heavily influenced by Nintendo in some way or another. I for one would prefer to carry on seeing Mario or Zelda into the next century! They spin a nnew idea into these games and it feels like a totally new game thats the wonder of Nintendo not a "hardcore i'll sit in front of the monitor until dawn" freak
