Forums - Sony - Sony Boss Spits The Dummy Over PS3 Pricing Claims

Article from the web site doesn't make a lot of sense either and makes you wonder the IQ of the person interviewing the Sony guy.
1) he had no clue games where not region locked to start
2) What the heck does he expect Sony to do ? Change the price each time the exchange rate between the Australian money and the dollar varies ? Not a single company does that with its product........

If anything following the reasonning of the web site, Sony should have increased the price of the PS3 in the US as the yen became stronger against the dollar, is that what they are suggesting ?

PS : and to the person asking the question about shipping costs to Australia, I doubt they are actually cheaper as the volume sold in Australia isn't that great. And the same as every isolated country with low volume of sales, prices are going to be more expensive...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Man Sony Australia are a bunch of wankers.

When my console broke down the second day after I had it my disc was suck in it and its been like 8 months and they won't return my disc cause they can't find it.

Sure I still love my PS3 but at those redicoulus prices I would like my disc back.

I love living in Australia but the prices of things really gets to me hey! Like seriously, if you want a fancy car your paying thousands more you would in America! and gaming has allways anoyed me with the price differences. And when the aussie dollar was high and prices stayed the same! WHAT ON EARTH! And my pay rate stays the same no matter what things do. So not only do we get payed a bit less but we have to pay more if we want something! its madness!

If at first you don't succeed, you fail

Cars i can understand due to heavy government charges, especially the Luxury Car Tax which is a 33% tax you pay on the car's sale price over $50k which already includes a 10% GST. Not to mention stamp duty which is yet another tax on all cars.

It also depends on the distance the cars have to be shipped. Japanese & Korean cars are fairly comparable to the exchange rate world wide when you consider the government charges. Where as European cars have to be shipped much further, so there will always be a higher price for that. We also have Right Hand Drive cars because we drive on the left hand side of the road, which is more rare than the other way around.

Never argue with idiots
They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience

Looks like the pressure is getting to sony and they are about to CRACK

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

to add your partially right. All import cars get charged a tariff too. This is because Aus is trying to protect Holden and Ford. If we didn't manufacture cars their would be no tariff on cars.

Real lousy attitude from the Sony CEO. If he really hated that article, he should've just let his lawyers deal with it, and kept saying "no comment".

On the other hand, I think that the writer of the article was baiting and obviously (since he wrote the article) is leaving out certain details that he cannot use to his advantage in such cases. So it may be so that he went on a tantrum back just to get such answers but he won't print that. And it's even possible that the CEO didn't even say all those things within that particular context. (Seeing how a lot of people always are misprinted in magazines, papers and such).

This is the same exact guy who just yesterday said...

Smart House: PS4 is needed now, should've been more like Nintendo

Smart House Australia has given the PS3 a real attack, by stating that the PS4 needs to come out now and Sony is falling too far behind. They CRITICISE SONY for not being like Nintendo and being more interested in "grunt and performance than something as simple as family entertainment and a device that is exciting to use and cheap to produce." Moreover, they actually doubt Sony has the ability to deliver a new breakthrough console in the future.

Quote:
The Company that has been kicking Sony's backside is Nintendo because they have done what Sony could have done but failed to so because Sony engineers are more interested in grunt and performance than something as simple as family entertainment and a device that is exciting to use and cheap to produce.

So as games like Wii Fit and the Wii interactive sporting games clean up sales because of a simple interactive controller Sony is still contemplating what to do next.

This is not the first time that this has happened, Sony engineers did a great job of designing the walkman until Apple came along and gave them a software lesson that was more about designing an IPod that was more consumers friendly and easy to use than the Walkman. Now Nintendo has done the same but this time in the gaming market.

This is a Company that is living off yesterday's products and a brand that is looking sicker by the day. One also has to wonder whether they have the resources necessary to produce the Playstation 4 or even the people that are smart enough to actually deliver a breakthrough product.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

did anyone noticed he said

"When the PS3 was launched, Sony deliberately designed it so that it was not backward compatible. Instead the Company tried to get two bites of the cherry by continuing to sell the PS2 as a low cost console and the PS3 as a premium console, thus forcing die hard gamers to buy a new SonyPS3 console and new PS3 compatible games."

this guy is laying, and he is trying to hurt sony. Every one knows that the ps3 launch with a EE inside that was later removed
