Yup. The only problem you cant install firware updates, but with no PSN and games costing $80, who cares abt firware updates when games are $5-6

If you think the disparity between the PS3 and 360 price in the US is bad.

The arcade here can generally be bought for $250 if you hunt around (special deals happen frequently) and the cheapest most place have the PS3 at is $688.

You can ALMOST buy 3 arcade for the price of a single PS3. HA!

Well all this info leads me to belive sony will have a price cut this year just not in the US.

It seems prices are in line with USA prices. 299 AU $ = 200 US $ for the Arcade for example.

 

 

thats the point i dont think the ps3 ever had a price drop in aus

I just thought I'd point it out since the $ sign is the same in both countries but they actually represent different things.

Lol what are we all forgeting? PS3 is outselling the 360 2 to 1 in Australia if I am correct (I think).

But do you think sony is making a profit in Australia? PS3 is made in a country just above australia (like malaysia and china and i think even vietnam it is manufactured in... so shipping costs to australia should be cheaper too?) am i correct here?

Oh btw I see ps3 being sold with little big planet for $610 in Australia. I also see them being sold for $650 with LBP and HDMI cable. They are NOT $690.

Do Australian prices already include sales tax, or is it added on top of them? If they're included, the price difference isn't actually a big deal, which I suppose has something to do with the fact that the Australian dollar has weakened recently (bringing prices down and closer to USA ones).
