Forums - Sony - Sony Boss Spits The Dummy Over PS3 Pricing Claims

To be fair, we only know one side of the story, and don't even know from that article what was said exactly that enraged the CEO.
X360 and the Wii are probably also more expensive in Aus than they are in the US, Practically everything electronics wise is i'm sure.
Australia is a bit more out of the way than US, and it's far more expensive to ship there.
Even if Sony is shipping direct to retailer, someone has to pay for the stuff to get there, shipping is not free last time I checked.

Somebody really lost it down under.

Prediction made on 11/1/2008:

Q4 2008: 27M xbox LTD, 20M PS3 LTD . 2009 sales: 11M xbox,  9M PS3

lol at Sony fighting over how best to rip off their once devoted consumer base.

We do, actually, and they're not too flattering to the website. Evidently, they had posted some misinformation not too long ago ("SmartHouse initially did infer that regional coding prevented consumers from using software purchased in the USA, we were wrong and have removed the comment."). They also recently wrote another anti-Sony article, which you can read here.

As I said in my comment section, this seems to be one of those stories that has no real hero.

It seems prices are in line with USA prices. 299 AU $ = 200 US $ for the Arcade for example.

Thanks for that link!

do you perhaps have a link to the article that "SmartHouse initially did infer that regional coding prevented consumers from using software purchased in the USA, we were wrong and have removed the comment." refers to? it would be interesting to read that and I couldn't find a link to it from the source in your OP...

All systems are more expensive there.
