Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo E3 2009 article posted on GoNintendo.com

Last year's E3 was a huge disappointment to many, including myself, although with that being said, I did enjoy playing Wario Land:  Shake It and Tales of Symphonia:  Dawn of the New World.  However, with E3 opening up again this year, there's an opportunity for everyone involved to do better.  The question is, will Nintendo do so?

An article posted on GoNintendo.com http://coregamenews.com/2009/01/nintendo-at-e3-09-it-cant-get-much.html certainly hopes so, but already there are people who are anticipating it to be even worse.  Case in point:  the only citations for their arguments that 2009 will be a awful year for Nintendo is the New Play Control upgrades of GCN titles and Sin and Punishment 2 as well as Punch Out!.  Those naysayers believe that these are the only titles that Nintendo has in store?  Please, we've just started the new year and we haven't even got the bulk of what they're doing.

Now I'm not saying I'm a sucker for Nintendo of America.  I don't approve of their decisions to hold off on bringing Disaster Day of Crisis or Fatal Frame IV to America (although the latter may get picked up by another publisher) and I didn't go anywhere near Wii Music OR Animal Crossing Wii (although in all fairness, I haven't played the latter title's previous entries).  But I personally think it's too soon to "jump the gun" and say that they are going to fare even worse this year.

Not that I'm anticipating a better E3 this year, but I feel that making predictions like this when we only know "half" of the story seems a tad pre-mature.

Yeah I agree with you, even if I don't know if this E3 will be good for ninty... I hope they have something strong for their fans like a new zelda or a new mario.

Well they DID say they were working on both, but I don't know if we'll actually see a trailer for either.  This is probably going to be more of a year for the third parties than for Nintendo itself.

You can expect a "wii something" too IMO. Maybe "wii racer" or something like that.

Welcome on the site BTW!

I think Nintendo will have a good E3, they admited to a mediocre show in 2008, they know they have to step it up in 09.

I have posted before here actually but never started a thread, but it's still very nice to be acknolweged.  I'm honored to be here.  :)

One more bad E3 will likely result in all core gamers on the fence forgetting about buying a Wii.

That said, E3 2009 might not come at all.

I hope they make a new Star fox, Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Metriod, F-Zero, Kirby,Donkey Kong, Pokemon, and a new franchise.

Nintendo know that they screwed the pooch with E3 '08--it was pretty clear that even Miyamoto was taken aback, as he was 'forced' to announce Pikmin 3 when he had no intention of doing so. They quickly had their October Conference to save face, which worked well.

This E3 will be epic.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Well they didn't announce any triple A core titles at all last year, so they should have SOMETHING this year... right? Right? They'd better! :p And I know it's not gonna be a Pikmin title, a Mario Tennis, or a Metroid, 'cos those'll get GameCube re-releases. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised at all if we never saw a new Pikmin released this generation.
Personally, I'd LOVE to see Nintendo finally bite the bullet and release some new iterations of their classic franchises already. And I'm not talking about all that Punchout and Sin & Punishment craziness. I'm talking about the likes of F-Zero, Starfox, Kirby, 1080, Waverace, Paper Mario... the games that their fans who've been loyal to them for generations WANT to see and play. Nowadays I get the feeling like they're not even trying anymore, like they're intentionally not developing these kind of games. Yes we have Mario and Zelda and Metroid and Smash Bros. Thank god. But what the heck about all the rest? I understand that the money's too good not to release last-generation-games with tacked on Wii controls, or casual minigame fests with development costs a fraction of those AAA core titles, but man. Come on. Personally, the only games I'm interested in on Wii this year (so far) are all 3rd party titles. The last 1st party Nintendo game I got was... err, let's see.... oh yeah Brawl. No wait, that's not even a 1st party game... -_-'
