Forums - Website Topics - Attention VG Chartz!!!!! Where are my SEGA fans at!!!!!!!

Anybody have their Dreamcast hooked up via VGA out? That ruined everything else after for me. The picture looks so good. I didnt want to go back to components that the other systems used. Everything else was far behind, regarding inovation. Dreamcast was the first console to do that and the only console back then that cared about online gaming. Xbox was the next console that carried off were Sega left off. They borrowed from Segas tech and evolved it further. Using dedicated CPU and graphics cards, built in internet. Xbox added a hard drive and digital audio, but it still lacked a video out higher than component.

I have the VGA connection for the dreamcast. That is the reason my dreamcast is still plugged in to the 1080p tv below. Genesis, saturn...don't look so hot on that monster...but Dreamcast looks great. Besides, Dreamcast fits great between 2 xboxes and behind the Wii ;)

Awesome setup. Your PC is right beside your Dreamcast. Burn and go. ~_n

Do you use your PC to emulate your Sega CD and Saturn games and upscale to HD?

As for my Dreamcast, I have it right next to my bed. I have a dedicated CRT Monitor and speaker setup for it. I sleep better at night knowing it's next to me.

SEGA! While I agree that the Genesis should occupy a seat ever bit as big and comfy as the SNES and the PS1, I can't say the same for the Saturn. I did like it, but the PS1 had Twisted Metal.

Have any other systems allowed for VGA output?

PC is running to the tv with HDMI and i am using Gens to emilate genesis, sega cd and 32 x games all the time.

I have about 20 sega CD games as well...the good ones...and power rangers lol

I have 2 dreamcasts actually...well 1 had the controller port die because i used a non licensed arcade stick...so I have it for parts. I plan to have DC for a long time... Xbox did some ports like Soul Cal and Ikaruga but there are still tonnes of games you cant play anywhere else. I wish they made a wireless controller for it tho...

@pbroy, I definitely agree with you that 2k Sports kicked the shit out of EA back in the day. NBA 2k are about a billion times better than EA Live, and I always like the NFL 2ks better than Madden. I remember someone I knew back during college days bought NBA Live and I was like damn everything looks and plays like shit.

That can be fixed easily. I fixed a few of my friends' Dreamcasts that happened to. There is a blown resistor in there. All you need to do is take apart the Dreamcast, pop the controller board out, unsolder the resistor and put a new on in. The resistor is labeled F1. Replace it with a 5K 5% tolerance resitor. Put the Dreamcast back together and it's good as new.

@pbroy

I read that and even saw a guide on youtube. I just didn't want to waste time with dreamcasts being 30 bucks at pawn shops... Its good to have the parts anyway in case something else goes bad.

DC (and all sega and nintendo systems) are built like a rock. they work forever.

I never liked sports games before, but after playing NFL 2K and NBA 2K, I was a believer. They played so easy and they were fun.

Dreamcast also had some fun driving games, I normally don't like driving either. Test Drive Le Mans was bad ass, along with Metropolis Street Racer (became Project Gotham Racing)
