Forums - Sony - Good PSP Strategy games/ RPGS.

I despise handheld gaming, yet at the same time the PSP seems to be getting all of the good turn based strategy games at this point.  Joanne of Arc, which looks great and D&D Tactics which... if it plays like regular D&D it should be fun, despite the luke warm reviews.  Despite the fact that i'll be moving soon and have a Wii, 360, Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast, N64, SNES, Sega Genisis, NES, Balley Astrocade and Atari hooked up to various tvs in the house I think i gotta get in on the startegy games the PSP is going to have.

Any other Strategy games one could suggest?  Leaning towards Strategy RPGs.  Perferably ones where it is easy to build up levels as I like to make large partys of just about every class and use them all. (Hence why the D&D game sounds so great to me.)  Or barring that just good turn based rpgs.

I probably won't get this till around X-mas so games coming out in the future would work as well.

Funny you should post this thread, because I decided I am going to buy the new PSP Slim today after I watched a Jeanne D'Arc video. Then I remembered it has Silent Hill: Origins, that Castlevania: Rondo of Blood game (+Symphony), the two new Final Fantasy PSP games, and quite a few other things, and I was pretty excited about it. I also don't own an MP3 player yet, and even though the PSP isn't the best one, it will suffice if it means I can play some of those badass games.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

As far as turn based strategy, there's also FF Tactics: The Lion War (a remake of the old FF Tatics with lots of new stuff) and that game is a classic.

There are also the two Metal Gear Acid games. I've had my eye on them for a ages, they are turn based strategy/card combat and I really wanna get them.

RPG games there are the following:

Tales of Eternia
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth (classic-must buy)
Brave Story: New Traveler (new game and amazing looking and playing)
FF I and II Anniversary Editions

Those are the best ones that I can think of and there's also the Monster Hunter games (the 2nd is coming out at the end of this month) but they are more action/RPG.

Since you hate hand held gaming, I suggest you get the new PSP Slim when it comes out cause you can hook it up to your tv and play it on a tv screen, that would probably be more to your liking.

I wouldn't get excited because of this feature. 480/272 will look extremely ugly on TV...

believe in sony :D

FF : Tactics , Dinasty Warriors , Field Commander , Lord of the Rings : tactics , Warhammer 40k : Squad Command ... and many more comming :)

Indeed very low resolution, even bad when you own a LCD TV or even worse, a full HD TV.

Tales of Eternia is a real must have but it's not turn based, only available in Japan and Europe, and don't know if someone mentioned it but Tales of the World is kind of a pick as well. Jeanne d'Arc a must have and so is Brave Story.

I'm going to have a hooked up Atari and Balley Astrocade, as long as i can perceive everythng it'lld be fine.  Can't look much worse then like the "Super Gameboy" from the SNES days anyway could it?

Also I don't have an LCD or HD TV  so I should be fine. I don't even have a big screen.  With all the systems i have and all the friends i usually have over that want to play games multiple TVs have always just made more sense then a big screen.  Besides that setup lets me watch TV while playing a game which is nowhere as hard as you'd think... even with action games.
