Forums - Sony - Just before the K2 release I had to say Uncharted is still the king of HD

Maybe best, since you are not keeping up your defense.  First you said it was true for your first post (that it was not a good one) then you ended with: "This thing is the greatest ! period" calls for "hiiin no it ins't", basically justifying your "hiin"-post.

And if that is his opinion, backed up with screenshots and like that, then it's definitely a better post than yours, which is just posting to post something that may get some response.  Again, post a rebuttal or something, otherwise better to keep out of the thread (like you just said you would).

Could list at least 5 console games which look better than Uncharted

It's not that serious bro, but I respect your opinion. Uncharted 2 will optimize further the already spectacular engine. It should perform quite better than the first, even though the first was fantastic. Uncharted 2, IMO, will still have lots to do to top Killzone 2 but it's not impossible.

Now that Megaman2 is banned and leo-j is gone and DMJ is gone i think that us remaining sony guys should turn into well respected posters even if we have to bad mouth the ps3 we sould b about pure truth to set us apart from the MS and Nin posters

Go ahead.

Though I disagree with you, and you are perfectly entitled to disagree, I want to see what games you think look beter. In most places it is simply down to personal preference which one looks better.

However, you must all agree that Uncharted has the best water effects you have ever seen in a game in the small streams and lakes throughout the game

Oh yes, I fully agree. The only other game this gen with water I thought was as astonishing as Uncharted's was Halo 3. The water in that game was beautiful!

Don't forget Bioshock, that game had sick water effects.

OP:

In my opinion, Uncharted has one of the best art-style around. Everything about it looks extremely refreshing and eye-pleasing. However, the game is not perfect graphically. I can't say I'm too impressed by the explosions and the character models all look shiny, almost plastic-like.

It's only a matter of preference I guess, the current best looking HD console game could be a toss up between all those titles (depending on a person's opinion or affiliation with a console):

Gears of War 2

Metal Gear Solid 4

Prince of Persia

Uncharted

Heavenly Sword

Call of Duty 4

etc..etc..

Wow, hopefully Uncharted 2 will get acclaim for aspects of the game that is deserved, as opposed to Uncharted, which judging by page 1, is severely overrated by many here because it was the start of the PS3's first consistent run of good titles.

Honestly, the gunplay is just area to area (similarly to hack and slash) and it FEELS like it (which breaks of the flow, despite the fact that most shooters are essentially the same in this aspect, this game made it painfully obvious). The actual gameplay isn't tight, especially after playing Gears, one thing it does have on gears is that you can switch from which shoulder you look over which was mighty useful (despite being unrealistic for a average person and meant that you could shoot around certain corners without the enemy hitting you).
The graphics were great, but technical faults, whilst not ruining the experience, does not make it the king of HD. I would say that title goes to Gears or MGS4, both of which I encountered no issues with technically on my playthroughs.
Slap on a B grade hollywood story and a twist that angered more than it did freshen the game, and you get a good game, with solid work put into it that gets elevated to AAA status because of quality starved gamers.

End note: Don't get me wrong, I thought it was a great game, but people are putting this game up there with the best of this generation, when it doesn't even deserve a mention by the end of this generation (though everyone should own a copy).

@ calamity, I'm not going to bother arguing with you because I disagree... but ND have said that in U2 they are going to make the transition between combat and platforming more seamless, and integrate them better, so now the enemies can traverse the land as well as you can

I agree with your and CGI's post.

Uncharted does have the best water effects. No doubt, but I think the grass textures (some others textures as well) and some of the trees only look okay (not great). I know many console games have problems with anti-aliasing, but especially Drake catches my eye here.

So here are my 5 games which I think have better graphics:

Far Cry 2, Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Project Gotham Racing 4

EDIT: If you disagree with some of them. Feel free to switch them with Banjo Kazooie N&B or CoD World at War :)

Uncharted is one of the few games I played on PS3 (I've played my beloved R&C and the 2 Resistances)
I really think it is a Naughty Dog quality game and that says it all.
The big "but" is this.
I strongly believe that all the PS3 fans (fans, not fanboys) who declare it maybe the most beautiful game since the beginning of the generation, REFUSE to believe that there are numerous games which (especially on 360) look far better.
I refuse to believe that anyone who saw the recent Gears will support OP's opinion.
Assasin's Creed in Full HD, Far Cry 2, something told about the water, look at Bioshock, it is almost real, MGS4 etc etc.
And, there are numerous technical flaws that just don't let this game be the Ultimate AAA (please, don't tell me that Nathan's movement is good. It is almost affordable.)

Everything in the game went downhill (including the graphics) after they introduced the zombies >_>

It got better when you left the bunker, I really liked the (very) ending

I liked the zombie part. It was a nice change of pace and it fit well into the game. I was actually expecting them from early on in the game when you saw the people worshipping the statue and some of the sounds during the game.. I think it was hintet at quite a lot and i hope they don't go farcry on it and leave the unique part out of the sequal.

I want them to leave it out. ND games have always been light hearted, and I fear Among Theives is getting darker. That bunker section is what put me off replaying the game for so long, and will put me off again for a little while before I try and get my platinum trophy. I just don't think the zombies fit in with the type of game that I would expect from ND and want them to do

If a developer doesn't evolve neither will their games. I never played any jack and daxter and i only got a crash other than the first after it was put on psn. I really like the first crash but playing the third it's obvious it didn't evolve much. I completely skipped those type of games ("Kid type of platformers") in the playstation 2 era (played DMC and God of War instead) and here in this generation after playing the demo for rachet and clank, and taking a few maps of crash bandicoot 3, i feel no reason to go back to the sort of game. It can be fun sure, for brief periods of time. The first crash has a lot of nostalgia to me so i can go back and play that again without feeling the same.

I hope that naughty dog doesn't feel obliged to simply follow what people request. Sometimes what people request can be good, but at other times it can hinder the creative element of a game and in the end leaving the same gamer who complained earlier, unsatisifed because the experience didn't live up to the prior one. That is my reason for hoping that they make it exacly like they want to, Zombies, Bigfoots or whatever else they may think of.

If there had been no zombies it would have just been more pirates and i think that while uncharted was great, it wouldn't have been as good as it was without the twist, without the curse and.. yes, without the zombies.

I look at uncharted not as a game from a developer, but as an experience. Same way i look at heavenly sword. It's an experience and you simply need to hold on to your seatbelt and enjoy the ride because it's fucking epic ! Nomatter which way the story goes light or dark i simply hope that they retain what was so great about the first. And add too it. That is ofcourse the humor, the story, the gameplay, the visual element and the cinematic experience all the way through.

Ofcourse i'm also in for a few twists here or there :D
