Has it ever occurred to scientists that someone who takes drugs is more likely to be stimulated by the colorful graphics. Is it a coincidence that the most popular game on earth is about an italian plumber trying to save a princess from a deformed turtle whilst being boosted by the magical abilities of mushrooms?

Maybe games don't make people violent, but violent people are attracted to gaming. Maybe, gaming is a release for many violent people, who otherwise might be out in universities randomly shooting kids. Maybe, just maybe, gaming actually prevents violence. Maybe we should be sending Xbox's, and PS3's to Africa or the Middle East.

Religious fundamentalists have been trying to ban games forever.. so its no surprise that this fundamentalist Mormon university is publishing a study (the only study of its kind) calling gamers drunks and druggies. Kind of reminds me of when I was a kid and the church I went to called heavy metal music a "gateway drug" that would lead us to doing heroin.

You must admit it's hilarious that the researcher already hedged the words in the conclusion with "may" and "my guess".

Quite a research if you have to reach to assumptions in the end.

The headline (your headline?) is highly misleading, because that's not what the article says at all. The study says "more likely," not "likely." There is a big difference.

well from my experience the people who drink and take drugs are the ones with the social life not the ones who spend all the time gaming.. as such they are casual gamers and so tend to have a wii. maybe greebes should join socer mums, grandparents and kids on the list of 'casuals'

Ehh, I don't think there is a correlation. Tons of people who don't play games get drunk all the time... its called clubbing/partying. Tons of people do drugs. I'm sure you'd see a correlation between people who watch alot of movies and drug use.
