Halo Wars has a chance to prove an RTS belongs on the console. Unfortunately, I think RTSs are best left to the pc. If Halo Wars outsells Killzone, it would be a huge win for MS. I don't see it happening.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.

It's obvious that console gamers do not play RTS and Halo brand will make only that it will be best selling RTS on consoles.I predict 4mln KZ2 LTD and HW little under 1mln LTD.
Also ODST with only 2 to 5 hours gameplay for full price won't beat KZ2.
people have to understand that quality does not always equal to sales.
people also have to realize that majority of consumers don't read internet hype in judging what game to buy.
the biggest reason for majority of consumers to buy a game is the title.
Halo Wars, even if it sucks, will sell a whole lot of discs because it has a huge fanbase and it's become a name connected to quality.
Killzone does not have such a name. Even if it's godlike crazy good, it can't beat a name like Halo.
Look at Resistance 2, which is arguably a better game than World at War (which is just a rehash of another world war 2 battle). Call of Duty has the name so it will sell more, even if R2 got 10's across the board.
Mass market consumers don't buy internet hype. Remember this. This is why things like Wii Music sell so well despite the horrible reviews it gets.
So my prediction is: Killzone 2 250k first week, a little less than 2 million lifetime. Halo Wars 600k first week, 3 million lifetime.
I would bet on Killzone Worldwide especially because I'm sure the reviews will be better.
Has anyone played a good console RTS ever? Even the ports of otherwise good PC games like Command and Conquer just play like crap on consoles, ESPECIALLY the Xbox which never has gotten it together for mouse/keyboard support.
In theory the PS3 can be decent for RTS games if they include support for mouse+keyboard (will be interesting to see if C&C3:RE includes it with the expanded PS3 version). Playing with a controller is just slow and awful.
Also why would anyone who loves sci fi RTS games be jonesing for Halo anyway? Dawn of War 2 is coming out followed by Starcraft 2! If there was ever a time to release Halo Wars it was last year before those two juggernauts hit the scene.

That doesn't always apply to spinoffs that take on a different genre. Command and Conquor has great RTS brand recognition but I doubt it would do great business in a FPS spinoff for example. Look at games like Fallout Tactics that tried to take something that worked and put it in a different genre to abject failure.
I do agree that the Halo name will take ODST or whatever its called to strong sales since it is a Halo FPS fully capitalizing on the name, but I'm not so sure about a RTS game. Does anyone think that if World at War had been a Call of Duty RTS game it would have moved 5 million copies at such a rapid speed? The only console RTS that will do 3 million lifetime is a console port of Starcraft 2 (if we ever see it).

I'll be happy to play Halo Wars once it comes out for PC as it almost certainly will (as I'm sure is the case for many others).

EDIT: NVM
Halo wars will not outsell KZ2.

There are people today who say that FPS have no busines being on consoles either. If we were to go with that, then we wouldn't have console FPS titles, and see the sales they have. A console is pretty much a game dedicated computer without a keyboard. I am in favor of as many genres as possible making a jump to consoles, because this means that masses have a chance to get exposed to new genres, and consoles get more players interested.
Because I believe this, I want Halo Wars to be able to do a FPS right, so other companies get an idea how to do it, and we see more RTS titles, and strategy games, making their jump to consoles. A reason why people say strategy titles don't belong on consoles, or consoles don't support them, is they aren't done right in the most part. HOWEVER, the DS, due to Advance War, has enable strategy titles to make a jump to the DS.
