I was hoping Fragile could break 50k first week... Japanese are just not buying any games anymore (besides the same old).

I don't know, I'm pretty happy with Fragile's sales. I thought the game was going to completely tank but 16,000 gives me hope that it could eventually do well in japan if it can get the right set of legs.

Dunno, Fragile looks like a quality, high budget Wii game from Namco. Certainly nothing to scoff at. Also what about that high quality Klonoa Wii-make?
Yep Fragile did what most people expected in Japan and apparently Namco Bandai knew that as well. Only shipped about 40,000 and it'll sell about 30k-35k in its first week. I guessed 50k first week and 100k LT so I'll be pretty spot on for totals.
Not surprising considering new IPs continue to bomb in Japan. Namco better make sure they release this outside of Japan.

Are you serious? Namco-Bandai's games sell extremely well on the Wii:
Tales of Symphonia
Wii Ski + sequel
One Piece + sequel
Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 + 3
Active Life
Namco Museum Remix
Taiko no Tatsujin
all made massive profits for Namco Bandai. And there are probably more that I forgot.

Well yes of course. America and Europe have some new IPs able to do a million this generation. While in Japan, aside from Wii Sports, the next best selling new IP is a traditional JRPG with a new name. Yet becausse Fragile is a JRPG but not in the traditional sense, it is just left out to die. Just the way the Japanese gamers have been and its quite disturbing.
WKC had loads of Hype behind it, and its a first proper PS3 exclusive JRPG therefore it did sell well, mainly due to the hype. Look at other PS3 RPG's (especially the ports) they all bombed
Fragile did medicore, i really expected something around 40-50k first week, now it will get around 30. I hope it does develop some sort of Legs and will come PAL and US later this year, because that game looks great, and people in the West will buy it.
Its really weird that gamers in Japan tend to buy mainly big franchises, practically ignoring everything else.

If you'd actually played White Knight Chronicles you'd know that the game is far from traditional. In fact the game is more like an MMORPG than a normal JRPG.

They released it on wrong console. Wii is very family orientated... |
Bad timing - they should have waiting for release of season 2 (which i think will be announced pretty soon in Japan ? ) then i could use some more hype.
