Forums - Sony - Would it bother you if the PS3 was Sony's last console?

I honestly wouldn't care one bit.

Yeah, I finally have a sig.

It's better to have competition, since that will keep costs down. I don't think you want to have Microsoft monopolize the gaming market. If not for the competition from Sony and Nintendo, do you think Microsoft would drop the price of the 360? HELL NO. Just look at the PC market. Microsoft has no competition. That's why they can continue to charge ppl a few hundred bucks for a copy of MS Office and ppl will still pay for it.

Yes, for me "playstation" is synonymous with gaming. It'll be sad indeed

I don't think I'd really care too much if any company went belly up.

really? in that case

sana magsara ang pinagtatrabahuhan ng tatay at nanay mo

sana magsara ang kumpanya ng tatay at nanay mo

sana magsara ang kumpnaya nyo

tutal wala ka naman pake diba?

Hell, yes.

The PS2 remains my favourite console of all time, it has the best game library of any console.
The PS3 was a risk, but it paid off for the consumers, because it's only because of blu-ray that we can play a game like MGS4 on one disk, just not for the company.

Also, I'd have to play Sony games on another console, and that's just not right. With no more competition in the HD market, Microsoft wouldn't bother being competitive, they could sell for as large a profit as they wanted and sell more consoles than they are doing now.

Nope. Wouldn't miss them at all. All the good games they get will just come out for another system. Doesn't matter if its on PS4 or Wii/xBox next gen. The games gonna be made anyways.

EDIT: Microsoft can go too. In 3-5 years I want to see Nintendo and Sega going head to head in the console wars again!

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

Not really, Nintendo is the only console maker that I would be sorry to see leave the business and thats only because of the amount of history that they have and their track record for innovation. I think I'd prefer to have Apple competing because I get the feeling that they'd be more interesting and innovative.

Plenty of developers that I would be (and have been) sorry to see leave the business though.

ofcourse it would. It would leave console gaming with two companys that i personally don't think produce good products.

I might go back to pc only gaming if it were to happen.

Check out my game about moles ^

I find it really funny how people seem to blame Sony for making Sega quit the console business. Don't get me wrong, i have all the sega consoles and sonic, shenmue, panzer dragoon saga, story of thor, street of rage, shinobi, altered beast, golden axe, and many more, are on my top games of all time list. But Sega did some stupid mistakes, beginning in the megadrive years, with the release of the hugely expensive 32x and Sega CD, which were a huge blow for the company due to the lack of sales.
Then in the Saturn years, they did what to me was their hugest mistake, their top games didn't get enough copies to be sold worldwide. Panzer Dragoon Saga was a huge expensive game for the Sega company, and they only made 30000 copies for a worlwide release? Only 2000 for pal territories? That was utter suicide. Also some top projects got canned due to internal conflicts, like Sonic Extreme.
This policy continued with the dreamcast, and with that came Sony and Nintendo (yeah because people seems to forget that the major competition for Sega was Nintendo and not sony from the beginning) with better projects and more support than sega could offer. So please, as a fellow Sega lover, stop living in the past and playing the blame game, because that's not gonna bring back those days.

OT - Yeah, i would be bothered if the PS3 was sony last console, because first they have great series that i would hate to see them dissapear, and because sony's products are always reliable and trustworthy, even if they are expensive as hell
