Forums - Sales - Media Create numbers (1/12 - 1/18) - software and hardware

The PSP is really the story in Japan, came back from the dead to murder just about every other console besides the other handheld monster.

Good numbers all round, PS3 will hover around 15k and get bumps thanks to SF4 (although the game is already in arcades and is awesome :D), RE5, Yakuza 3 and the FFXIII demo.

It will be very interesting to see is the 360 outsells the PS3 any week this year in Japan, the SO4 week comes to mind but I think Yakuza 3 releases near that time which should sell very nicely.

Every other console besides the DS, meaning... the home consoles?

PSP is doing exceptionally well, I'll give you that. However, I'd say it's equally surprising how poorly home consoles are doing now. The leading console, the Wii, is seeing huge drops YoY. The PS3 isn't doing quite as bad, but it's still down a lot YoY (and still 2nd to the Wii). Japan is simply drifting away from home consoles, it seems.

We'll find out soon if the problem is the lack of games. Yakuza 3 and RE5 are coming, and if they don't spark some sales, things can't be good. MH3, WSR, and FFXIII are the real tests, all coming within the year. 2009 should tell us for sure if Japan is still interested in home consoles or not.

Sucks for console gaming.

Japan really has become a handheld country. That's expected given the average commuters' time on the trains, but it's sad to see it happen, give how console-centric the rest of the world is.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

The kind of games (jRPGs) I like will be on handhelds, I suppose. Home consoles will be for casual and/or Bald Space Marine games. I'm a bit bummed.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

DSL | 18,809 | 23,429 | 42,238 | 17,416,632

I ask that, because we are vgchartz, and so we must really be vg charts. Other things, they are mistake in the LTD totals of neogaf. LTD totals for the DSi and 360 are false, and all the website around the world copy these totals which are false.

Proof for the 360 (same LTD total this week and the precedent week):

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=349739 (bad total week 3 2009, because same total week 2)

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=348979 (good total week 2 2009)

Proof for the DSi (what has happened):

BAD totals week 2 and 3 (link before), because they use the bad total of the week 1 to obtain these totals.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=348233 (bad total week 1 2009, because they take the LTD total for the week 50)

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=347514 (good total week 52 2008, because not the same poster as usual which has taken the right total for the week 51)

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=346658 (week 51 2008, no totals which maybe explain the mistake for the week 1)

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=345823 (week 50 2008, good total)

And maybe, they have done mistakes before, which i don't see, because i only see the last data.

In all cases, it's not serious, and nobody on this website (neogaf) speak about these mistakes, which for me have been seen in 10 seconds. All the website around the world take these numbers which are false. It's absolutely not serious.

So, because the best website (as a lot of bodies say, not for me, because of these mistakes i speak before) can't do this work with no mistakes, we must do this same work, with no mistakes.

White Knight Chronicles has done really well as of late, especially for anew franchise.

In fact, the table of the week 50 and 52 are not coherent. And it's the same for the table of the week 3. They are a lot of mistakes, i don't want to search all, because they are a lot, and as i said, which table between the table of the week 50 and 52 is right, finally, i don't know. Maybe the two are false. What is sure, is that, the table of the week 3  (on neogaf) is absolutely false, and maybe, there is a japanese table on a japanese website which is right.

Is someone know this table which is right?

On gamefront.de, they give this YTD for 2008, which are absolutely not coherent with the YTD total of neogaf for 2008, so really, i don't know the right totals for media create:

Konsole Verkaufte Einheiten
(St.)
Vorwoche 2008 Total
(ab 31.12.07)
Nintendo DSi 188.697 204.144 1.231.359
Wii 134.958 131.054 2.726.205
PSP 118.765 145.957 3.541.846
Nintendo DS Lite 56.453 50.308 2.521.570
PlayStation3 45.989 39.136 928.384
Xbox 360 13.011 12.914 290.154
PlayStation2 10.404 8.662 442.021

PS3's doing well. And I think WKC was a very good success.

Forget, what i posted before. Table of neogaf posted for week 52 is:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=347514

Code:
__________________________________________________________________

| PSP | 118,765 | 145,957 | 3,693,026 | 11,358,103 |

| DSL | 56,453 | 50,308 | 2,715,226 | 17,302,805 |
------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, i think, it's the right table, because for the week 50, they have taken numbers rounded for the week 49.

The YTD of gamefront for 2009 are right:

Konsole Verkaufte Einheiten
(St.)
Vorwoche 2009 Total
(ab 29.12.08)
Nintendo DSi 62.525 78.201 323.244
PSP 42.559 60.495 260.142
Wii 32.333 41.243 193.541
PlayStation3 20.690 28.144 109.488
Nintendo DS Lite 18.809 23.429 90.398
Xbox 360 9.576 10.554 39.824
SPlayStation2 5.760 6.628 24.936

So, it give for the week 3 of 2009, if the table for the week 52 of 2008  is right:

Code:
Hardware | This Week | Last Week | YTD | LTD
NDS | 81,334 | 101,630 | 413,642 | 25,533,277
PSP | 42,559 | 60,495 | 260,142 | 11,618,245
WII | 32,333 | 41,243 | 193,541 | 7,672,518
PS3 | 20,690 | 28,144 | 109,488 | 2,731,956
360 | 9,576 | 10,554 | 39,824 | 869,261
PS2 | 5,760 | 6,628 | 24,936 | 21,424,465
-------------------------------------------------------
DSi | 62,525 | 78,201 | 323,244 | 1,554,773
DSL | 18,809 | 23,429 | 90,398 | 17,393,203

But, i am absolutely not sure that the table for the week 52 of 2008 is right.
