when they ever get first in a console race.

i have to agree with this statement even if the original poster might be joking about it. I don't think Microsoft can focus on both until they win one generation of the cosole wars....after that when they believe they have a big enough install base with their console system they will release a handheld

Jokes apart, there's some truth too. And besides, MS still hasn't even decided whether an handheld could be bad or good for it, and solved this initial decision problem, there's another even bigger, what's the recipe for a successful handheld? Nintendo succeeded, and more than once too, competitors with products more powerful, in theory, failed, PSP isn't bad but it's more than a bit strange, as HW sales are very good, particularly for a first experiment, while SW sales aren as much satisfying, moreover UMD is nearly failed, but it didn't sink PSP with it, I guess Sony hasn't a clear idea about everything in this field, not even Nintendo fully groks this, although it always does well empirically, so MS could be almost totally clueless.

I don't think they will enter the handheld market cause to make such a device, you need to be supported by japanese people and developpers ...

I don't see where he asked for western games. You know, gaming is great because it doesn't need a certain race to make them in order for them to be good. Thankfully, you can pretty much buy them anywhere. I've purchased a majority (about 95%) of my DS games at big retailers, usually GameStop, an EB Games, or on a rare time a store like Target.

Nintendo has released tons and tons of DS games, many great and many million sellers. Square-Enix, an RPG king, has released tons of great games, many from the Dragon Question and Final Fantasy name series, and even some new IPs. You know, the DS is considered the king of RPGs? Capcom has some games on it, including the Ace Attorney series, which has tons of fans in love with it. Tons of other games, and comanis, and the genres can be as simple as platformers, RPGs and shooters to weirder genres like puzzles, sims, rythm and music games, and tons of others.

There aren't too many western games, but there never has been any huge western handheld games. Though like I said before, gaming isn't a racist things where only Americans make good games. Whether YOU only like western games doesn't change the actual quality of the game, thank god.

Just a few series that have appeared on the DS- Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Star Fox, Pokemon, Ace Attorney, Sonic, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Trauma Center, Professor Layton, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Elite Beat Agents, The World Ends With You, Chrono Trigger, Kingdom Hearts (future title,) Resident Evil, Mega Man, Call of Duty (lol,) Wario Ware, Viewtiful Joe, the Lego series, the Jump series, Hotel Dusk, TONS of anime games, Castlevania, Grand Theft Auto (future title,) Blue Dragon, etc etc etc.

Again, whether YOU like them or not doesn't change how great those games are.

I'm not the one who said there are tons of great games from every genre. Or that all the great companies have put a good piece of work on ds. If every good company has made something, there must be a lot of good western titles? Why should I care if someone else likes those games if I want to buy a game for my console? Anyway, I just asked if there were any games which I might like (the western ones). From those you listed, I think I'll pass CoD. :D

Judged on your game list, and recent trolling, and signature, there's nothing I have to say to that when you've made up your mind before trying.

Oh and don't forget amazing western games like Dementium and Moon (15 hour long FPS title which is longer then most console FPS titles lately) Lock's Quest and Viva Pianta (MS IP imagine that). is also very good.  Advance Wars and Bleach Dark Souls is very westernish even though it's a japanese developer.  Not to mention the many western developed racing titles like Grid and Diddy Kong Racing.  There's good support from all sides on DS just so many Japanese titles overshadow western titles, but there's no excuse for not being able to find something you like on the handheld, like Call of Duty on the DS is really amazing, it's got good graphics and world at war even has good online, CoD4 on DS has good local multiplayer but no online saddens me :(

Anyway on topic, MS probably won't make a handheld cause a lot of their IPs that get put on a handheld are going to the DS and it's an easy way to make money.

I think is easier to Nokia or Apple oficially enter the handheld race than Microsoft.

Sony ruined the movie part with the bad idea of a proprietary disc that doesn't offer to users perceivable advantages over standard mini-DVD's, and let's not consider the bad idea to think people would pay to see movies on a very small screen amounts worth the producers' effort, the movie part of the business, had it started asking a more reasonable price, would have been barely profitable without the burden of a proprietary format, but for a device that would want to do everything, and we know haw bad this ends usually, and considering that it was the first Sony handheld and it had to clash against the titan of handhelds, it didn't go so bad, right now it's approaching 44million units sold. PSP is doing quite good in HW sales, although SW sales are acceptable only because the user base is large enough to give decent numbers despite a very low attach rate, and movies sales are (well, more correctly, were) a disaster. But in the end, people buy them, Sony earns money from them, it's more than MS managed to do with Zune, and a lot more of all the past handhelds that defied Nintendo and died.
