Only thing I can see here is that HD JRPGs would benefit a lot from being multiplatform. Depending on how the wave of JRPGs do that are hitting the Wii over the next year or so, some developers might have to ask themselves is there really any point in forking out relatively large development costs for so few sales when they might possibly be able to get a similar amount for smaller costs.
JRPGs as a genre have hardly changed over the years (infact i've seen nothing on PS3/360 that couldn't have been done on a PS2). Japan has gone handheld mad. These are a couple good reasons to stick to the DS and PSP along with cheaper development.
