Wii Is The New PS2, PS3 Is The New...

...GameCube. Website VentureBeat crunched the NPD numbers and has turned up the following results:

• Based on the console's first 26 months of availability, the Wii is on its way to become the best-selling console of all time — a title currently held by the PS2. (The Wii has been outselling the PS2.)

• During the first 26 month period, the PS3 sold 6.79 million units in the U.S., compared to 6.75 million GameCubes during its first 26 months. While the GameCube finished a distant third last generation, the console was profitable for Nintendo.

Wii is on track to outsell PlayStation 2, while PS 3 is on par with GameCube sales

agree with u the wii numbers r insane specially here in USA
Playstation brand is not what it use to but it's still a great console
But I'll stick to my 360

If it wasn't for the "others" numbers, the PS3 and Gamecube would both be tied by the end of this generation...

(And the Wii will outsell every console other then the DS :)

Actually according to many HD fanboys it's not just in Greece that happens but rather all over the world.  Wiis are collecting dust all over the place and the incredibly high dust collection is making a significant adverse contribution to global warming.  The people who buy new games (with the Wii almost always having the top software sales world wide each week) are only buying the games to decorate their shelves with the lovely looking white cases and not to actually play games.

I'm surprised people in this thread get away with such sweeping generalizations, since my neice got her Wii she won't get off it.

Your new so we'll let it slide by now but I will tell you this: Attach rate for the wii is higher then that of the PS3. Nintendo software is also ripping the charts apart in raw unit sales.

Already posted. And again; using NA numbers only to determine the outcome of lifetime sales worldwide is kind of... strange, if you ask me.
Not that it matters too much, the Wii pretty much takes the sweeps all over the globe anyway... (allthough the PS3 situation is quite different from the Gamecube outside of NA).
