Say what you mean, Forbes. Don’t hold back. In a spotlight piece on Activision supremo Bobby Kotick, the US mag’s accused EA of ripping off Guitar Hero with Rock Band.

“EA… teamed with MTV to sell Rock Band, a shameless knockoff of Guitar Hero that added drums, bass and a microphone to the world of make-believe rock stars,” says the article.

“EA says it is returning to an ‘auteur model’ of designing games, taking bigger chances on fewer ideas.”

Bet Mr Riccitiello’ll be pleased about that. Go get yourself some of your own ideas, John. Leave Bobby alone.

Wait, what? Did they perhaps mean that Guitar Hero World Tour is a Ripoff of Rock Band?

Guitar Hero is just a guitar game. Add in the Bass, Mic., and Drums, and I'm calling that innovative if you ask me. Guitar Hero never appealed to me. Rock Band does...

Being that Harmonix created Guitar Hero makes this really lolz worthy.

As hilarious as that is, I find most hilarious that Forbes probably has no idea Harmonix is the creator of both series and decided this is where they were taking it. Guitar Hero was going to become Rock Band regardless. It was the natural progression Harmonix was taking with the series. Then you add in what you said and it's doubly hilarity.

Dear Forbes,

Harmonix, not Activision, created Guitar Hero.

Harmonix, not EA or MTV, created Rock Band.

If anyone has been ripped off (and I don't contend that is the case), it is Harmonix for not being in control of two hugely successful franchises that other companies are profiting from.

I would now like you to go after Halo, Doom, Killzone, Resistance, Half-Life, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Bioshock, Duke Nukem and Portal as shameless rip offs of Castle Wolfenstein.
