And posting subjective opinions about the games is irrelevant, and smacks of trying to derail the thread. If this was about game sales, it might fit, but this is about system sales.

You really cant say squandred. Nintendo never squandred despite what happened over the years. They used to be #1 in everything, took a nosedive during Sony and MS eras, now they are back on top by a wide margin.

If Nintendo had squandred only diehards would have bought the Wii.

Who isnt to say the next PS or the next Xbox will be met with worldwide acclaim? Or will Nintendo fall back to 3rd next time around? No one knows but no one is getting "squandred".

Really, not liking Wii is fine, but there are millions and millions enjoying quality games like Galaxy, Brawl, Kart, RE, GH, Zelda, Metroid. Don't act like shovelware is the only thing on Wii. PS2 had tons of shovelware but I never hear anyone complain about that.

And fyi: You actually CAN play Gamecube games on your Wii, as it's the only console with FULL backwards capability. How's that for service?

 

LOL cherry picking at its best. Global PS3 sales and Gamcube sales paint a "slightly" different picture.

I aint the only one saying it. It is basically everyone on the internet. People go crazy how bad the games are for the Wii yet cant comprehend how well it sells. The shovelware to good games ratio is at the highest peak on the Wii than any other system ever expect save the Atari.

Yea the Cube games are much better so why would you want to pay $250 when you can get a brand new Cube for $50 bucks and get the same enjoyment out of it?

You seem to be sales directed and it seems you believe whatever system is highest selling one must be the best one.

Last gen, I only owned a Cube and disliked the PS2 despite its high sales.

This gen is a complete reversal, I went PS3 because I cant comprehend Wii controls and plus the games are usually on the bad side.

 

QFT. Best is always in the eye of the beholder. If you are a PC gamer and like complex games, FPS, Action-Adventure, western RPGs, PC Ps3 and 360 are the "best" console "platform". (It doesn't matter much which of the three, for me the Ps3 has a slight edge in this triumvirate but 360 and PC have their own advantages)

If you like Nintendo games or want to play short sessions with friends the Wii is the "best" console.

It's not everyone on the internet, it's basically a bunch of frustrated 15 year olds who have nothing better to do than criticize a console they didn't like from before the start and expected to fail massively. Now it's kicking the balls of the "real" consoles the only thing left is to repeat points that have been proven false time and time again.

If you still don't understand why Wii sells something's wrong with you. Most people don't care about graphics, they want to have fun playing games. That's actually what they're meant to provide: entertainment.

I never said anything about Wii (or any other console) being the best console. I enjoy my 360 and Wii a lot, but my favorite (note: =/= best) would be the DS atm.  

Wii is not at the same level during PS2 time. Everyone must understand the gaming market is rapidly growing especially in NA and Europe. PS2 has almost 70% market share. Wii only 50%. GC is only about 15%. So PS3 (20%) is a little bit better than GC in sales. X360 (30%) doing much better than XBOX (15%). But PS3 is consider as major failure because is doing much worse than PS2 and it loss a lot of money.
