Forums - Gaming - Third Party Exclusives - Why?

I fail to understand the concept of exclusives. I just dont dont get it.

First off exclusives should only be made if they're taking advantage of the console or 1st party-2nd party imo.

For example:

PS3 - I still dont think anyone has fully tapped all the potential of that monster. MGS4 did a good job and I dont believe that game can be developed for 360. Its taking advantage of its power

360 - Its online community. If someone wants to make a game centered around community or multiplayer specifically 360 is their best choice. (L4D)

Wii - Its motion controller obviously. If people take the time and want to create a fun and new experience Wii is the way yo go. (No More Heroes)

Timed exclusives  are also the stupidest things Ive ever heard of. Why the fuck should RB2 come out on 360 before everything else?

Why only make Valkyr Chronicles for PS3? Why only make Ninja Gaiden 2 for 360?

I applaud SE for making FFXIII multi-platform.

Exclusives will only hurt sales and in the end its bad for every gamer. At least thats how I see it.

Somebody tell me Im wrong and make a better argument. Im sure somone might....>_>

Good for every gamer, bad for a console. More games that are just for one console will screw the other consoles, the other consoles will just have -1 game.

Fans of one console will just want their console to have all the games and screw the other consoles. I see what you are saying though but console makers will want something to set them apart from other consoles, make them different in a good way. If not, all consoles will be the same- I bet gamers wouldn't want that either.

Yeah, it's incredibly good for the console to have a game exclusive. Imagine the difference in sales if the PS3 had Call of Duty, Need For Speed, Far Cry 2, BioShock, Fallout 3, Fifa, Madden, Guitar Hero, Rock Band etc etc etc all exclusive to it.

Bare in mind that a company may not have the money or resources to port it to other consoles as well, especially if it's a small development team making a Wii exclusive for instance.

And what if they only really work on that format? Would Zak & Wiki work on the 360 without drastically changing the gameplay mechanics? Not sure it would. And imagine if World of Goo was on the PS3 - dual analogue would completely ruin the experience.

So there are reasons behind a lot of the exclusive decisions (besides bragging rights from fanboys).

And please excuse my bias with my examples - just have more experience with the Wii.

unless they're getting paid to make it exclusive there really is no point to them.

Because M$ payed them to do it!!!!!!!!! Dont u know that by now?

lmao
