Forums - Sony - The Official Killzone 2 Thread

He thinks the game comes out next week, lol.

That 'next week' thing is bugging me. Is it his error? Does he mean the demo? Or is there something we don't know?

Not sure if he means the demo since the video was released today and demo is released tomorrow.

I have been hoping for a push forward in release ever since it went gold really early. Odds are though it is an error on his part.

Hey guys, remember when I mentioned those 96's from Jolt and Play.tm?

Anyways, a member on Metacritic forums messaged the guy who runs the scores asking why they were not added yet, I found it very interesting to say the least.

Well Metacritic interpreted the B+ that Resistance 2 got from 1up as an 83, which clearly is wrong if an A/A+ is a 10.

This site is the most inconsistent site I have ever seen, and it's because there is only 1 game editor. Each system should have it's own editor that tracks score and corrects errors.

Marc Doyle is consistently inconsistent, for example, in a recent email he stated this to me:

Date: Tuesday, February 3, 2009 5:32 PM From: Marc Doyle Add to Addresses Block Sender To: **********.net <************.net> Add to Addresses Subject: Re: :: :: metacritic: sent via site (gameseditor) Size: 6 KB

1up was just added, playTM is also known as "ferrago", jolt's reviews are the same as playTM's and X-play is the same as G4 TV.

Marc

But if you look at all the top ps3 games recently, like Resistance 2, Uncharted, MGS4, and LBP, all those games (and more) all got scores from all 3 of those sites.

Heck, MGS4 got 3 different 80's, from Ferrago, Jolt, and PlayTM. But now that Killzone 2 would benefit from such scores, now suddenly "they are all the same".

I am still waiting comment from Marc on this blatant double standard that somehow just went into effect on this site.

From this thread.

Scratch that. Looking into it further it seems they just started doing this very recently. The same outcome happened to Gears of War 2.

Ignore the foolish person who posted this message and carry on.

Thus why it's stupid to hold something like Metacritic to such high standards. It's great to see how reviewers think about a game and how you have links to actually read the reviews, but people take it WAY too seriously.

AAA = __% on Metacritic anyone?

I like Gamerankings and more so N4G. The latter at least includes all reviews.

wait there is only one editor? sheesh talk about easily having control for personal gain. i mean with something like this there should be multiple people for balance of power. and i dont understand... are those reviews known like that or is he just saying they are the same?

Well seeing as how he did the same thing to Gears 2, I would think they are the same. At least you can't think he does it to one and not the other.

Either way, I think the whole thing is dumb. Variety for example, they use them in the scores, yet Variety doesn't give a score. "Supposedly" Variety tells the score to Metacritic and then they post it. Sure, like Variety leaves all the World in the dark except the one guy running the scores on Metacritic...

The site isn't bad for what it is trying to do, but it is far too inconsistent.

While I think an A from 1up is great, I don't understand how that translates into a 100% (same thing with Gears of War 2), especially if there is an A+ (which would be what, 110%?). If we look at that, then how does a B+ from 1up for Resistance 2 translate into an 83% on Metacritic.

I guess the reviews that were claimed to be the same were used for other games.

Excuse me, my brain exploded.
