Forums - Sony - Could Apple end up buying Sony?

I want Apple to create their own console. I want to see them fail.

I can't stand apple-products at all. They create average hardware but price it twice as high as the competition and judge this price with "design" and tons of money spent for advertising. This might work out in a market with unexperienced customers, but this would fail so hard with videogames. Casual is all in Nintendos hand, hardcore is a tough fight between MS and Sony. There is no room for apple.

Using the iphone / ipod as a gaming device is smart, because they start with a large userbase. But a non-portable console for Apple would not be possible.

And I don't see third party developers making games for a 4th console. Some say 3 consoles is one too much.

They DID.  It is there FUNNEST IPOD EVER!

You get Super Monkey Ball,  Several tilt unit racing games, Bowling, dice, and keep the ball out of the hole game.  Yes, this is SO awesome!  Who needs non-portability?  R0X0R L33T Style with the FUNNEST IPOD EVER!

Wait, I forgot Touch screen heroes, for people who want to get Guitar Heroes on their IPOD.

No, Nintendo will buy Sony.

All this "who's going to buy Sony" fails in the sense, that i doubt there's a single company in the world that wants to buy it.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

lmfao that would be so sweet
is the world ready for AppleSony products? OMG...
that would be ssooo sweet
but it wont happen..

Currently waiting on : killzone 2 and everything else after it..day one purchase baby

If Sony was a lean targeted company like Nintendo with a few thousand employees and no excess divisions in areas where you have no interest; I could see this as a possibility. But of course, these are the very reasons Nintendo isn't even remotely available.

To buy into a company with 160,000 employees, big debt, and a gazillion product lines in which you have no interest, and several are competitiive, to get a trademark that is at the moment somewhat tarnished and a few studios, not unless they were totally insane. Besides Apple doesn't want anybody else's brand anyway, they want their own, and Playstation doesn't even start with "I".

I know nothing about economics so correct me wherever I'm wrong. Does Apple actually have enough money buy a company like Sony? or are you just talking about the PlayStation brand?

First of all Sony wont leave the console buisness with just one defeated gen and second If Apple was to approach Sony they would most likely partner with Sony to give the competitors a run for their money.

Its not about winning, or defeat with selling consoles. Its about money - something they've lost $4 billion of.

You'll be disappointed because you don't take into account disruption: like Nindento disrupted the market inventing from scratch the new species of arms and ass shaking casual gamers, Apple too will bring shattering disruption to the gaming world inventing:

LOL. You will see the sun rise in the West before you will see that thought even cross their mind. Iwata would wake up in a cold sweat if this even occured in his worst nightmare.

Sony represents everything they DON'T want: big debt, unprofitable, huge workforce, huge product line not related to Nintendo's core. I can't think of a single thing Sony has that they want. It would be like a devout Muslim wanting to buy Jimmy Dean sausage.

Thank's for starting my day off with that, it cracked me up.

I'm sorry but the above is either exagerated or straight ridiculous .
