Is Square Enix making a mistake releasing FFXIII and FFXIII Verses in the same year, in Japan? Wouldn't it be wiser to have at least a year between releases to make the fans hungryer for more, so they don't get burned out?

Versus hasn't got a confirmed release date yet. It might not come out in 2009.

But even if it does, I disagree. As long as there's at least, say, 4 months between them, it'd be fine.

They are making a mistake releasing DQIX and FFXIII the same year and I think the same fiscal year in Japan.

 Not the same fiscal year. Different platforms. And last time this has happened(main FF and DQ during the same year) we ended up having the most successfull DQ game ever and one of the most successfull FF games in Japan.

I'm not sure if it matters in that case because DQIX is a portable game as opposed to a console game.

It's all about Financial Years. For SE that is from April 1st to March 31st.

I expect:

So this FY (2009) will see DQ9
2010: FFXIII (Japan)
2011: FFVSXIII (Japan) + FFXIII (West)
2012: DQX (Japan) + FFVSXIII (West)

So they don't hurt each other at all and make sure every year sees a steady stream of revenue.
