Cause the games are fun as is the story and characters?
You seemed to make a BIG deal out of the remade port the PS3 is getting.
So.... eh... double standard?
|
The only reason I mentioned it is because I read a post right before that, that said the Wii had Japanese support locked up. And IGN said it was a new game, but being it's release date is in two months it's likely just a port. I'm not excited to play, but only for the fact that it will be bought and thus make the charts interesting.
And I do not play these games for the story. I've read Romance of the Three Kingdoms, I know this isn't anywhere near accurate (talking about all Koei games) The two to three mintue cutscene that losely tie things together are not what I'd call good story.

Calling the Romance of the Three Kingdoms accurate in of itself is pretty funny.
It was a fictionalized account of actual history.
Like the games.
As for the storytelling. It's just about as good as most games... including some which people call "cinematic" in nature.
They establish the characters, show you what's going on... and if you know anything about the history or fictionalized history that's all you need... and that's who the game was made for.
It'd be annoying if you had to sit through long dialogue about stuff you already knew about.
|
I was saying that the games aren't even an accurate account of the books. That's what I was saying.
Although it is fiction and you can strech it.
|
And the books aren't an accurate account of history.
They all follow the historical events in line though.
You know what's going on... and it's fun to see the unique character traits they give each character.
|
I guess, but it's annoying how those traits change across games. DW Zhang He is quite different Kessen's Zhang He. The same people make it, but why the huge difference. (Hint: He is a complete flamer in DW, while he's a BA in Kessen)
|
Because the games aren't in continuity... each is a retelling.
The Romance of the Three Kingdoms games for example are REALLY faithful to the book.
The Dynasty Warriors games took more liberties mostly overexaggerating things that were already there... with the occasional character out of left field... but is generally more faithful then you give credit. (Like Zhang He.)
Then you've got Kessen which throws in all sorts of female characters and is like a wholey different beast... (not unlike a lot of anime based of it... hey at least it's more faithful then Ikkou Tousen or whatever it is.)
Oh and of course Dynasty Warriors Tactics which did a nice job pulling the line between Romance and DW... probably trying to draw Dynasty Warriors fans into the SRPG genre in order to get them to buy Romance games.
I do hope 12 is of the same vein as 8 and 10. Preferably more 10 then 8.
