Forums - Sony - What percentage of PS3 owners are FPS fans?

richardhutnik said:

People say that the 360 isn't a good place to do JRPGs, because the percentage of JRPG fans is small there.

Well, I was curious about what percentage of PS3 owners are FPS fans.  Anyone have any idea?  This number could be used to calculate initial sales of Killzone 2, for example.  Maybe look at sales of Resistance 2 and World at War (PS3), and average the numbers, to get an idea of what sales could be like on Killzone 2 when it releases.

Anyone have any idea what percentage of PS3 owners are FPS fans?

i couldnt say.

myself id say i like all tpes of games, regarding % of fps fans on ps3...............it could be anything, there will be a lot though

Given trends, I would say that about 10% of the PS3 userbase is likely to pick up KZ2 within its first year. Depending on how the PS3 sells this year, that's 2-3 million copies.

I wouldn't be surprised if KZ2 sold as many as 1.5 million in its first week, although I would wager it will be closer to 1 million in that first week.  If it hits 3 million within a month, that'd be out of the so called "ball park", and a real accomplishment.

OT: 10%, give or take.

Well I'm going to base my post completely off of Anecdotal evidence, because... well... it's the best kind >_>;

I am amongst 5 of my friends that own a PS3, of said 5, 4 of us enjoy FPS's, therefore, 80% of all PS3 users enjoy and actively purchase FPS games.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

I saw "360" and "JRPG" and immediately thought of http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=55042

/shameless plug.

For shame.

Aaahh..how did I realize this thread was about KillZone just by reading the headlines?

I like it, but not a fan. I'm a tps fan :)

  Unleash The Beast!

End of 2011 Sales: Wii = 90mil, 360 = 61mil, PS3= 60mil

How the fuck would I know 20%? 30%?

I sure do.

I never played any FPS till Resistance. My reason for playing resistance was that it was one of the only ps3 games worth playing when I got my system so I gave it a shot since I didn't even have to buy it (borrowed from a friend).

I later bought cod4 and then res 2. I won't say I'm a big FPS fan but I'll now play a decent FPS every now and then. Last gen, I totally ignored the genre. I only played JRPGs, an adventure game every now and then and certain fighting franchises.

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

No clue what so ever. You can't even tell by sales alone, as many people who might consider a certain FPS will be turned off by some features, though they still like the genre, and then there is overlap in software sales.

I like FPSs myself though, and I will be all over Killzone 2, come its release.

Go ask on the wii vote channel.
