6) Finally

I am not answering you on this thread anymore. You always drag the discussion off topic and make a lot of personal attacks.

Great!  Thank You!  I'm really tired of the personal insults/attacks against me so it's great that it ends here.  I won't bother replying to your other points because I don't want anyone to think I'm taking parting shots at you or trying to drag you back into it.

It's really sad that all the attacks in this thread have prevented me from peaceably disagreeing with Legend. I feel like anything I say will either be piling on or drowned out by all the bickering.

This thread is a goldmine.

Anyway, I can't beleive anyone would say those are prerendered since the screens arent that far off from what the GC was pulling off late in its life.

Furthermore, you can see polys in a lot of those screens, as well as other things that would never be used for even a crappy CGI.

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"

Is this thread really still going on? I was pretty sure this was settled about 40 hours ago. No one thinks these are CGI except Legend. Entroper, a Senior CS major (according to his profile) confirmed they are not CGI. Yes they are much better than Gamecube graphics, even later in it's life.

Case in point:

Link from Twilight Princess

Link from Super Smash Bros. Brawl

And as Entroper pointed out, it's not even technically impressive, just very detailed. It shows with enough effort even a console as weak as the Wii can look very very good. Are we done here?

Actually I finished my last course last week, so technically I'm a graduate.  :)  Just need to get my paperwork in order.

As far as my being an "expert witness": Even though I have graphics programming experience... I don't think you really need this kind of experience to be able to tell the difference.  It's not like I work on the SSBB team and can confirm anything from the inside.  ;)  I prefer to construct a solid argument rather than rely on my "credentials" which may only somewhat apply to this specific case.

I'd like to apologize to ItsaMii, some of the stuff I said was pretty childish and I regret it :|

I have said it before. I have heard others say it. The Gamecube has more power than the PS2. The PS2 is to this day a very powerful game system. These two systems have some of the best games ever developed. The Wii stands head and shoulders above these two systems with its increased power and capacity. Wii will be just fine.

I assumed it was purposely done crappy CGI to give it the appearance of appearing close to actual gameplay.  Some of the effects in the video I thought were beyond the Wii's capabilities but apparently I was wrong judging by the opinions of others here.  For example some of the stuff during the introduction of Zero Suit Samus starting at around 1:01 into the video, some of the effects just seem like they would be hard to do on the Wii, watch the dust at 1:06 especially when she jumps into the air, the particle effects just seemed too well done.

But I'm wrong and I obviously didn't realize how far particle systems have come in games.  My bad.

Congratulations on graduating! I can respect that. I am no expert. I spent a year in Computer Graphics Technology, but it was first year and all we did was the photoshop kinda stuff (hence the reason all I can do with that year of education is make signature banners haha). I am currently in my second year of Medical Technology, so I didn't even continue in a computer based major.

I think I can in general tell the difference between different levels of graphics and certainly between CGI movies and in-game graphics. However, I can certainly respect the fact that it's better to use the evidence, which there was plenty of, than to rely on your own expertise :). I'm glad to see this has reached a reasonable end without any further arguing.

nintendo graphics have sucked nuts for years and will always be that way
