The Wii should still have a strong win over the PS2.  Even if it didn't, the Wii will only sell more next holiday.

All of the PS2's records will be destroyed.

I dont think the Wii will lose it based on NDP... I really dont think VGC is high on the Wii in NA. Basically because

NDP had wii at 2 million US alone for November
VGC has right now US alone at about 2.8 mil give or take. Only a 800k increase for a 5 week dec period? I think maybe Nintendo sent more shipments than usual in November, so I could see Wii being just about right, or even a bit undertracked, not overtracked (unless NDP screwed up with the 2 million last month)



End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

wikipedia is a bunch of crap. Sony is yet to ship 140m units to retialers, yet they still quote mistruths as fact. It has been proven with Sony's own financial documents that they haven't shipped 140m units yet.

Also, this post provided no benefit to the thread as it is talking sales in a single week. We all know the PS2 has sold ~130m units, and that the Wii is quickly catching up, but won't pass it for years.

@topic,

I would check the hardware comparison graph about mid-feburary if you want to know what the "final" numbers will be. VGChartz won't adjust compared to NPD, but they will adjust (if need be) compared to the financials that Nintendo will be putting out in January. You could expect final adjustments to be in by mid feburary.




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

no, VGC doesn't automatically adjust to NPD, and hasn't for quite some time. I know he takes the numbers into consideration, but financials always get priority over someone else's estimations.

There is a ton of misinformation and even disinformation on wikipedia.   You have to understand it for what it is: it's a quick and easy way to get information that you may not be able to entirely trust.  In that respect, it is wildly useful to many people.  But not people who need the best information.
