I would like to know as well.

I can also make a "prediction" that it is possible for 360 to outsell PS3 WW by 5 million units in 2009 IF

1. The economic situation gets worse.

2. no price cut for PS3.

3. Xbox 360 slim is released and available for $200. No PS3 slim released.

4. KZ2 fails to make an impact on PS3 sales. FFXIII, GoW3 and GT5 are not released in 2009.

5. Blu-ray adoption rate slows down and Consumer awareness for Blu-ray remains low.



MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

It wasn't a prediction, it was just my intention to inject some open mindedness in this thread. In addition I added some expectations, some may or may not come true.

I cannot foretell the future, I can only provide arguments why certain events may well unfold.

Two and a half months since last post on this Epic thread. Perfect day to bring this thread back. April Fools!!! ZOMG: PS3 will outsell X360 on average by 1 million consoles per month.

*Assuming X360 stops selling today.

Open mindedness does not give you the right to post stupidity. Your predictions were soo foolish even Crazzyman probably didnt agree with you.


No one can foretell the future but your prediction were SONY fanboy wet dreams and had no sense in them. You didnt  use history, present to account for your crazzy predictions.

My definitive PS3 sales prediction...

The PS3 will sell a certain number of titles that, if anyone predicts accurately, it will be sheer blind luck than any intellectual acumen.

Oh yes, and the prediction will have a 50-50 chance of referencing Michael Pachter. Which means, there is roughly a 1 in 3 shot of a prediction appearing that will tick off almost ALL readers of VGChartz.

PS3 will be in front of XBox 360 in world wide sales in December 2010. Yes PS3 will overtake XBox 360 and outsell it by 9 million consoles over the next two years.

PS3 will have a price cut by Fall 2009. PS3 will be priced at 299 in Europe and Japan during October 2009. PS3 price cuts will follow in America in November 2009.

Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, God of War 3 and Gran Turismo 5 will all be relatively big PS3 hardware selling titles in 2009 and they will all sell 3 million copies+. PS3 will not be outsold by XBox 360 again once the price cuts arrive which will put PS3 hardware sales into over drive.

PS3 will sell 13.5 million consoles for 2009. 3 million leap on 2008 PS3 sales of 10.5 million.

XBox 360 will sell only around 10 million consoles for 2009. 360 peaked in 2008 with 11 million consoles sold for 2008.

PS3 will have its best year in 2009 and will sell 12 million to 15 million. But I have picked 13.5 million as the number of PS3 consoles sold in 2009.

PS3 will reach 5 million sold in Japan by end of 2009. FF XIII will be released in Japan for Xmas 2009, exclusive for PS3.

PS3 will have sold over 16 million consoles in  Europe/Others and PS3 will have sold over 13.5 million consoles in North America by end of 2009.

Xmas 2009 sales period PS3 will outsell XBox 360 by more than 1.5 to 1.

In regards to Wii console sales that system will sell millions more than both PS3 and XBox 360 in 2009 combined. Enough said.
