Like I said the pricing wasn't as I expected and I was hoping for some crucial titles to be released. Basically Microsoft shot its full ammo on Europe, while Sony decided to sit this one out for last year to reduce costs.

But IMO the more ammo fired by Microsoft in 2008 will weaken its position for the long run. I don't think they will go down much further than 119 to 149 Euros.

You keep using those prices... Is that from that regional promotion which no longer exists? Am I also allowed to say the PS3 costs $250, since there was a promotion at that price?

I am just pointing out why the 360 was selling faster than normal at the biggest European consumer electronics retailer. Now the 360 is again selling slower over here than the 399 Euro PS3 (with game) at 149 Euros entry pricing (with games).

I anticipated 360 entry pricing to stay about 199 Euro/Dollars for 2008.

In that case, you can't use that promotional pricing as an argument to why Microsoft can't go much lower in price.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Premium 360 go down to 200 € in Christmas 2009, 4 years after launch at half the price. Many people are calling for the PS3 to be half price around 2 years after the launch (600 € to 300 €).

MikeB is NOT crazzzzyman.
I actually miss crazzzyman a little bit. It always made me laugh when he was talking about the "AA" ps3 titles that would sell millions.
Unlike MikeB at least when crazzzzyman would make RIDICULOUS predictions they would be more dramatic with Lots of CAPITAL LETTERS and exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you really expect Final Fantasy XIII to be much assistance to the PS3 in hardware sales?  It is multiplatform now.  I do think FFXIII may get higher sales on PS3 because many FF fans may have already bought a PS3 before it was announced to go multiplat.  But for current console sales on, I doubt there is that much higher of a demand to get FFXIII on PS3 than the 360 to spike PS3 hardware sales over 360 sales.

He's expecting it to outsell it a total of 17 million, not 9.  He's think it will be 9 million ahead.

 

But we now know it was an alternate account and not a real projection.

Yes, I have always (also before the multi-platform announcement) said Japan needs Final Fantasy on the PS3. It's still exclusive there. And if what the Square Enix said is true, then the PS3 version will likely be better than the 360 port.

He didn't use to be this  way... He has always been too much in love with the Cell to the point of making some ridiculous technical claims (as well as some valid ones), but never until a few weeks ago had I seen him making insane sales predictions.

 

 

He's just in heavy damage control mode now. It remembers me of mid 2007 when the ps3 was posting sub 100k months in the usa and he was all over gaf trying to salvage the public image of the ps3.
