Then "innovation" in console game storage will have more to do with eliminating the used game market, than providing benefits to the consumer such as faster speeds or a smaller form factor.

Expect a $65 or $70 storage medium or a $60 download only model that is locked to your gamer tag or hardware. The same price, or higher, with no trade in value or discounted second hand purchasing options.

Or... they could just stay at $50.

What im waiting for is when SATA is replaced by a USB variant. Then all devices, internal or external are connected by either USB or PCI-E variants.

The problem with USB 3.0 is that there is a new Firewire spec RIGHT around the corner that is even faster than USB 3.0. So before it exists, USB 3.0 is already obsolete.

edit - nm. apparently the 3.0 throughput is still higher, or at least has the potential for such. Most USB doesnt reach its max throughput. FW 3200 will allow for 3.2 ghz even on older FW hardware.

Huh??? USB is far more widely supported, and do you have some links to the expected firewire specs?

Here you go, as requested - http://news.cnet.com/8301-11386_3-10141810-76.html

That's the wrong link, since it's the one I posted.

But it also tells you the firewire specs in it. Not good enough? Ok - try this. http://cooltechcheck.blogspot.com/2008/12/usb-30-vs-firewire-3200.html

USB 3.0 STILL looks to be mroe impressive, imho, AND it's more widely used?  People aren't going to start using Firewire more, given that USB has some advantages already and is a little bit ahead....

The less moving parts the better is my stance.

CD's are just too big anyway... it's always been a fetish that CD's would shrink but hold untold quantities more than current diode using mediums.

Technology is changing so fast, I want wait till the US realizes it's folly and moves back to analog - though every tech that I know disagrees, I see analog as the most viable option in the future, I just hope the not too distant one.
