The less moving parts the better is my stance.
CD's are just too big anyway... it's always been a fetish that CD's would shrink but hold untold quantities more than current diode using mediums.
Technology is changing so fast, I want wait till the US realizes it's folly and moves back to analog - though every tech that I know disagrees, I see analog as the most viable option in the future, I just hope the not too distant one.
