Funny stuff. If he's worried about games getting dumbed down I think he's a little late. Did he just said that Prince of Persia - Sands of Time was hard? Apparently he hasn't played ANY NES game. Play the original Final Fantasy. Play the original Contra. Play the original Ninja Gaiden. Better yet, play Battletoads.
Hardcore? Skill? Gimme a break.

Eh, I don't think the NES era was so much about skill as it was rote memorization, which is fine but not to be confused with something as lofty as "skill".

And Sands of Time is? I was just making a point.

And although I get what you're saying about memorization, Contra felt pretty random when I was a kid. Other games I thought were hard as hell was Hagane and Super Turricane on the SNES. I went through hell with those. Great times.

So the Nintendo World Championships were really a big memorization test?

Look at this guy's, his memory is amazing!

I miss old tetris, where the blocks stayed landed the second they touched down onto other blocks, none of this constantly rotating to buy time crap.

I actually read the title as

"Frybread's article of the day "Babies make games for Nintendo".

I have no clue how I did such a mistake (dyslexia here I come?), but I actually wish that was the title... :D

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

All right, the video Johann quoted is Tetris, which I admit is not memory-based, but the video in Frybread's post is a Mega Man 2 speedrun, which is the height of everything that has to do with hard games on the NES being based on memory. Ignoring that I have no idea how that mixup happened, that doesn't really hurt my argument at all.

WE GET IT.... you really like the Wii.

Get used to it, I post here a lot!

"Mega Man 2 speedrun, which is the height of everything that has to do with hard games on the NES being based on memory"

I switched out Tetris for Megaman 2 on a whim.  While I believe that hand-eye coordination is just as important in old NES games as it is in Bioshock, I don't see why the ability to memorize vast amounts of information is less of a skill than reaction time.
