Here's a colleciton of forum posts I was just reading on neogaf:
Got to play a little at CES. According to the Guerilla Rep it was a gold master build too.
It was the same level that we've seen for quite a while. Game runs very smooth and the lighting is amazing (as we all know). The rep made a comment about not having split screen co-op due to the amount of data that's streamed off the disc. He mentioned that they're currently working on online co-op to be patched in at a later time. The controls were a little slow for me but I'm sure it's just a quick sensitivity adjustment in the menu. Game looks great, especially on the new line of Bravias that they were setup on.
That's what the guy said. And I believe he actually works for Guerrilla and not for Sony because he was very knowledgeable about the game. Everything from the date the build went gold master to how far it is through Sony's Q/A testing.
This might explain some odd changes I've seen in the first level compared to preview code...
I'm not sure I can be more specific than saying a previously alternative route is closed in the review code.
I see. That does go along with what the rep was saying was the reason why online co-op isn't the game already and that's because they're spending a quite a bit of time rebalancing everything for 2 human players.
Did you get an idea about how long it might take for this patch to be released? Did it sound like something close to game release or far away?
Very interesting, I'll see what I can dig up on this later.
The only good impression I got was that they've definitely committed to the feature and it seems like they wanted it to be in the game originally but just couldn't get the balance they way they wanted in time. He did mention that split screen co-op will not be coming due to the engine's dependency on streaming as it wouldn't be able to handle two player's on opposite ends of the map simultaneously.
I'll let you guys know if we ever hear back from Sin. :P
From what I understand, he has some involvement with SCEE or something. He has a review build of Killzone 2, I know that (much like TTP, who is an Italian games journalist).
I really hope this ends up happening. I never cared much for splitscreen in shooters because half my view is cut off, making it rather troublesome to aim, but this game seems like it was made for co-op, and would be a blast to play with a friend.
