Forums - Sales - The PS3 can't seem to sell, eh?

Great post!

I think the main reason PS3 isn't selling too good (no, it isn't selling well at it's price point, that's something Sony PR would come up with) is because the 360 offers a very similar experience for $100 less on average. Sony can talk about how KZ2 has graphics that can't be matched all they want, but when it comes down to the wire it doesn't effect the quality of the game at all most people don't care about the tiny advantage of the PS3's graphical power or a blu ray drive, they just want great games.

I also think Microsoft has done a great job marketing the system.

The PS3 is selling fine. The problem is that is bleeds so much raw cash and there is no end to it in site. Its not gonna stop bleeding this year or next year and all this while everyone is demanding a price cut. If it was profitable like the Gamecube, then then they wouldn't be in the mess they are in. Its a dammed if you do and dammed if you don't situation.

Max,

I think perhaps I should note that you are getting riled up over very little. Currently, LBP still stands at 1.84 million according to this very site. I think it is with good merit, then, that I refer to my original thread stating 3 million as an absolute ceiling. It seems quite reasonable to refer to it now. 2 million being highball for LTD, I will admit, was not exact but I don't think it unreasonable to say it was still in the same ballpark.

I find it strange, as well, that you are exhibiting the same vitrol as my original LBP thread when I do not believe that I have made any personally damning remarks toward you.

The second place 'position'...eh? Is that on your knees or holding your ankles?

Derixs,

I apologize for the confusion it appears as though I was unclear in my wording. I intended for it to mean retain "at least" its second place position. As you know, it was first in the previous generation and looked to be able to maintain at least a second place finish until this holiday season's numbers appeared to quell those hopes.

it selling fine, the 360 price cut will wear off, so its margin over ps3 in weekly sales should only be about 50k.

I wish it had launched without blu ray and wifi for only $300. I guarantee it would be first right now. And since they'd now make a profit, they could use the profit money to buy Warner Bros support for Blu Ray and win format war as well as the console war.
