yes the flame sword does look very generic
so far nothing is striking out from this game....say like Fragile.
it seems an average JRPG affair.....I hope the devs prove me wrong

Well the main people anyway. I'm pretty sure there are people who worked on both games, but the main developers are different. It's the same developement studio though. The only main staff they share from wikipedia is the Producer(Hideyuki Mizutani) and the Music Composer( Yasunori Mitsuda). The rest of the developement staff is different.
Edit: Also you are forgetting that imageepoch developed World Destruction as well which has gotten some good reviews from japanese sites. Also Srpgs usually are reviewed much more harsh than traditional rpgs. I would have given the first Luminous Arc a 7.5 and the second an 8.

Giant swords... truly no game can be complete without them.
I've had this game on my "to buy list" for a while. I haven't seen/heard anything to be disappointed about either. =D

Hmm, I hadn't heard about that. Why would they revamp their entire studio for one game though?
that huge fire sword looks sick. can't wait for this game!
Nice.. can't wait! Hopefully that will release simultaneously worldwide and we won't have to wait forever for it. Fragile is out this month in Japan, everywhere else.. who knows.

But Fragile looks like it plays like crap. So it a draw.
