Hey! You probably recognize me as the administrator in charge of the moderators. Well I'm also head of the VGChartz review staff, and I'm looking to expand.

Look at Naz tooting his own horn!

But it's okay, cause Naz is the shit.

I just beat No More Heroes I'll probably use that......

Is the ability to write editorials - not just reviews - a plus?

I mean, I have opinions.

@BrainBoxLtd - I prefer the letter system we had myself, but I got outvoted. ;) As long as you can follow the guidelines and keep your reviews professional, your personal opinions should not be a factor.

@All - No deadline for submissions, but we'll be cutting it off once we have enough people, so the sooner the better.

@Slash - Currently review what you play, with no comment about the future.

@CaNCeRthecrabus - There may be a conflict of interest issue there. In fact, there almost certainly is, since THQ has games all over every platform. However some editorials with full disclosure could be interesting too.

@Hapimeses - This will be on a volunteer basis for the time being. However if you're looking to "break into" the industry then putting up reviews even for free is good for building up a solid published portfolio.

@Strategyking - We're looking for retro reviews to fill out our back catalog, but we also will require each reviewer to do contemporary games as well.

@OkeyDokey - There's a lot of user-submitted content planned, Brett's been quietly working on a lot of stuff, and that's all I'm going to say about that. ;)

@MontanaHatchet - Your review went up so fast I didn't even have a chance to read it before it went live, and it wasn't really posted at the ideal time for hits. :p Usually contributors digg their own stories.

@markers - You'll be marked as a Contributor with your name in dark blue like Torillian's. :P

@Khuutra - BengaBenga handles editorial content, you can send in a sample submission of that to him, generally our contributors can write in multiple areas though. You couldn't just post whatever you want though, you have to go through the editing process.

Threw you a sample naz.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Im working on NMH now. It'll take a bit. I need some energy Im off to buy some much needed food.

For the record guys, most of the reviewers (myself included) take a couple hours to write a good review. Maybe more. So don't expect it to be fast/easy.

What are the guidelines for the way a review on the site should be? Are the existing reviews already hitting the right mark? Would doing something like a (brief) textual analysis as well as a categorical breakdown for a "deep" game be out of bounds?

I'm asking about boundaries, here. Limits.

Reviews that we post are hitting the mark we want of course (since we allowed them to be posted). Usually for higher scores (in the 9's) the text ranges from 5 to 6 pages for my reviews. And anything in the lower ranges of scores is usually a 3-4 page affair.

The guidelines for being posted is that you have to have a score that is justified by your written review, and you must touch on gameplay, sound, visuals, and value. The more written the better except there is a limit where people will probably just stop reading because it's too much.

I'll admit I don't really get your third question.
