i don't understand ur logic. the retail price of the ps3 (499) is twice the price of the 360 (199).

Aha. I am boycotting Metacritic as a measure of quality, not entirely boycotting it. It is a good way to see what general reviewer opinion of a game is. Often, I, and most sane people in this world, disagree with reviewer opinion (GTA4- 98. SoTC- 91. Really?)

So Ronster's and my bet is not on the quality of Killzone 2, but the reviewer opinion of it. I happen to know this will be very high, because it's an HD badass awesome sci-fi FPS. And I don't think he would take a bet based on IGN, and it's satisfying to see Ronster with a Sony-loving avatar and sig.

God of war is indeed a good 1st party game, all the other "so called blockbusters" are 2nd party.

Kantor, i've lost count of the amount of microsoft threads that you have gatecrashed lately so thats a bit unfair m8.

I'm just simply pointing out that sony had nothing to begin with and relied heavily on capcom, konami, square, namco ect to get them to where they are today.

When microsoft have been in the console gaming business 15 years we can come back and see who has the most developers then huh.

 

You're not gatecrashing a Sony thread, you're gatecrashing a Microsoft thread, which when you think about it isn't gatecrashing at all. I don't remember claiming that Microsoft would become a third party...

Anyway, what we are agreeing on is that Sony 1st and Second Party > Microsoft 1st and 2nd party. Of course Sony had nothing to begin with. Microsoft had nothing to begin with. Sony slowly built up their first party, faster than Microsoft, it seems. Sony has needed to work on its first party a lot because of lost third party exclusives. If you look at it, aren't Gears of War and Mass Effect first party? Microsoft owns the IPs, Microsoft publishes it. I suppose the PS3 equivalent would be Heavy Rain. However, Microsoft owns a lot more third-party-developed IPs than Sony.

Microsoft's first party will improve when it needs to improve. So I suppose I'm agreeing with you again.

Sorry, Greenberg. Your console is still massively outsold by a more expensive and less technologically advanced console.

Sony says "Wii isn't competition." Microsoft says "We are part of the Wii's success." Both are wrong.

I really wish MS didn't cancel Cry-On.

Dual developed on the Unreal Engine 3 which was prior to use heavily optimised for both consoles.

I was thinking more straight ports !

Wii and Xbox360 is already a winner because both sold better than their predessor while PS3 is a loser if it could not surpassed PS2 which seems impossible.

that doesn't determine a winner. there is never a true winner it is for each customer to decide. my opinion all three consoles saw improvements since the last generation. not in terms of sales but overall entertainment.

Greenberg isn't too far off the mark, thus far? The 360 is still the top platform for 3rd party software and as someone posted today, it is the top peerformer for rentals, with 7 of the top 10 titles in 2008...a year when Wii blew the doors off sales. Wii, is ofcourse the overall top console, but not necessarily from a 3rd party's perspective. The ps3...numbers don't lie...even if fanboys want to lie to themselves.

really? u agree with him. i believe that he is just a man who take pity on his own console by lashing on another. no matter what Sony or microsoft says the Wii is competition. in sales wise the Wii is the only true winner. microsoft can't even claim to have to the best games either after 2008. while i will say the 360 has great 3rd party but has the worst 1st party support of the big three.
