Forums - Gaming - Halo 3: ODST, The Counduit or Killzone 2?

The Conduit, and here's why:

The Conduit is something that has never been done before.  It's a futuristic shooter where you point where you want to shoot.  If you're bad at the shooting range, you'll probably like it less, but it's still new.  And, the developer cares about pushing every single extra bit of juice they can out of the system their working for, and the graphics seem decent for any console.  Halo ODST is just halo with a twist, and Killzone 2 is Killzone with a different story and better graphics.

To be honest, The Conduit is the only game that I don't feel like I could already be playing right now.  The xbox 360 and ps3 already have dozens of shooters comparable to killzone 2 and Halo ODST.

now just give me MAG!!!

I'm not a fanboy, I just don't enjoy dual analog control.  It's d-pad or wii-mote for me.

the conduit has changed the way wii play games.

I know.  I'm sick of the puns too.

Then it becomes a matter of aesthetics as far as characters go. I've always found the Covenant to be plausible and aesthetically pleasing as Cylon Centurion or Klingon type characters ie. the race that humanity meets during the outward expansion into the galaxy while they are leaving this world behind and that come into an unexpected war against. However, I feel that the Helghast are far less believable and much less iconic than the creatures that make up The Covenant as think that actual soliders from Hell would tend to be more like Clive Barker's vision of cenobites instead of the painting of Darth Vader that is in the Denver International Airport.

I've heard that the creatures that make up the enemy in The Conduit fall into the alien conspiracy type opponents that might be something like the nemesis in the Area - 51 games, so I think they will probably end up being more believable than the Helghast but not as believable as The Covenant.

Did you just compare aliens to the covenant as being more "realistic" then aliens of a more human nature such as in Killzone 2. So you believe Star Trek aliens are more "realistic" then the thought that if alien race is indeed out there it might actually look like us but on another planet? ........Well, lets just say we have a difference in opinion. Aliens are science fiction as far as we know. To say one is "realistic" is....well fairly unrealistic. Even if there were alien life, to think that we had created an image in their likeness, is beyond doubtful. You really think if we found alien life in the universe they would be klingons?

I'm sure that there are a wide spectrum of aliens out there, and I do believe that ets have visited this planet.  I was saying that when humans reach a point where they are ready to colonize space they will possibly at some point encounter aggressive races like the Klingons, Covenant, Cylons, and possibly Daleks and Gallifreyians.  Of course the best works that describe aliens imo continue to be those of H. P. Lovecraft.  To my understanding the creatures in Killzone are soldiers from Hell and I find Clive Barker and Id's soldiers from Hell  to more closely resemble what I think soldiers from Hell would look like than the Hellghast if that is their place of origin.

Well, I'd just like to point out that your misinformed about the enemies in K2. The "humans" (qutie possibly originally from Earth?) are from a planet rich in resources and a beautiful planet and the enemies are also "humans" who were forced to colonize a nearby planet that is harsh and violent, just like can be seen in the environments of K2 as the humans have retaliated against an attack on them from the enemies and are attacking the enemies home planet. The reason they wear the masks is because from living on the planet for so long they have become unable to breathe without the aide of the masks. This might not be exact, but that's the regurgitated version from me. They certainly aren't from hell though, like you were lead to believe.

The Conduit.... though I am not that botherd about any of them, I would prefer a nice new TimeSplitters Wii.

As it is though, I will be likely buying the Conduit... so I vote for it.

If I had the other systems:

PS3... I would have bought Resistance and Resistance 2.... I would not have bothered with Killzone. Had Resistance not existed though I suspect I would have got Killzone.

360... I don't care for Halo, so no I wouldn't have considered whatever ODST is.

What makes me laugh is when Fanboys address a FPS as generic.....

I see all three as generics with not enougth features that will say that is trully revolutionaty in the genre. Not Halo ODTS, not Killzone 2, not even The Conduit

However, each game might bring someting unique for the genre ON the platform they are in.

  • I expect Halo to deliver more on the online gameplay, which is the system's most noticeable feature.
  • I believe Killzone 2 will give a more cinematic FPS experience overall, not because of the story, but on how it will be told and how it blends to the gameplay (graphics and sound).
  • I see in The Condoit the real way on how to make a great FPS on Wii with the controls and online (on Wii only, fanboys) that takes full advantage of the console.

None of the three are really groundbreaking to say that is a new standard in FPS. Howevwe, that does not man they stand out on the systems they are on

Exactly! They all bring something unique to the party. It all comes down to preferecnce. I personally dislike Halo but I would never say someone is wrong for liking it or that it's done nothing for gaming. I wouldn't even say it's not unique and will bring nothing new when the ODST is released.

I don't see FPS games being any more generic then most other genres though. Each genre has had more then it's fair share of games in that respected genre. I think FPSs just get the most hate because they seem to be the most popular right now.
