Forums - Gaming - Killzone 2: Why would anyone want to invade Helghast?

The color choices have to be attacked because haters can't find anything else to bitch about...nice.

A foil to the 360? Who came up with that, I actually find most PS3 fans hyping the game up because it looks/moves awesome and because it shows the real power of the PS3, what's wrong with that? They then get attacked by folks sayin: "oh, Gears 2 looks miles better" or "the 360 could easily do Killzone" or " Killzone 2 looks marginally better than Gears 2". Then it turns a thread praising Killzone 2 into a KZ2 vs Gears 2 match, which is ridiculous to begin with.

Exactly.

1. The levels look similar because we have seen about 2 levels!!!!
2. If you want backstory, then go to Killzone.com and there is a ton of back story, I spent at least 1 hour going through it. It starts from the first colonisation of off-world colonies and the influence of the Helghan Corporation

I'm loving the Gray.

Also, all the cut-scenes from the first Killzone are on youtube. They're not too bad and you'll get the storyline in the first game.

I did see the full original Killzone story on YouTube awhile back, and feel outright bashing of the original Killzone was unjustified.  Never did get a chance to play it, however.

The back story is big help in explaining things.  However, reading the story, it looks like the ICS had it coming to itself by the treatment of Helghasts.  Again, have a hard time relating to the good guy side.  Contrast that with Resistance 2, where America is invaded, and people are fighting for their survival.  And Helghast looks like a nasty place to be do.

I also want to address here comments regarding, "Oooo, he is picking on the color scheme, because he has nothing else to complain about".  If the environment remains the same throughout, and isn't varied, the game is going to get knocked down by critics for not having a varied environment.  It could take a game that was 9.5 and make it a 9, for example.  If KZ2 is a mid to low 90s game, then it becomes high 80s, if the environment isn't varied.

I'd tell you, but you seem so fixated on the graphics and such that there's no point to talk about the actual storyline from the Killzone games.

Graphics seem to be the ONLY thing being talked about regarding the game.  Is anyone talking about the story at all?  Has any information on the story been released?  That would help out here.

VGChartz seems to focus most on graphics from what I've seen. Neogaf and the Playstation boards have tons more info about the gameplay, which has also been getting lots of praise.

The two most common complaints I've seen about the game so far are the voice acting (not horrible, but not great either) and the controls which might not be fully customizable in the full game (most people want CoD4 controls).

You can choose the COD4 controls in the final version of the game. The story revolves around trying to take out their leader that caused most of the trouble in the first game (according to the latest Qore episode).

PSN ID: T_Gears

End of 2009 ltd sales:

Wii = 67-68m

X360 = 38-39m

PS3 = 34-35m

Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).

To the OP. You have some points but seem to be a bit short sighted. Videogames, yes are meant to be fun but they are also supposed to be involving and allow you to experience things you might not otherwise experience. To create an environment in which you feel involved in and influence is a part of great design. My point is highlighted by Halo 3, yes it could be fun but i did not feel i was really achieving anything story wise because all the aliens are bright and well, rubbish. So i found the game boring and no intensity meant i was not feeling satisfied.
People seem to talk as graphics as "textures and colours" , well this is bollocks. Crysis might have great textures and everything looks super dooper but it can not compete for atmosphere and emotion which is what Killzone 2 does in masses. This is why Killzone 2's graphics are better as they pull you in and make you apart of the game where as Crysis just looks really good.
Point in case, Gears 2 has a dull colour pallet and pretty average story but people still love it. People need to appreciate what good art in graphics is really about.

They develop a game that pushes visuals, then people get exited which causes hype. The better the visuals the more hype. Sony and Geurilla can not win anyway. The fact there are so many posts means thay must be doing something right.

Not knowing the story and what lies in wait = Great. Lets explore.

When someone posts threads like these, you store up a hornest's nest:

* Killzone 2 looks better than Crysis: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=56340&page=1

* Killzone 2 will cause the PS3 to start to sell better than the 360: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=56344&page=1

The buzz level on here, pro and con, for KZ2 is much higher than it is off the Internet.  As for other threads, well I am sure they get their own comments, from Sony defenders to Microsoft antagonists.  Going into console FPS realm will get XBox fans defensive, just as bringing up driving games cause Sony people to get defensive, due to Gran Turismo.

Like I said, I'm pretty sure that the devs confirmed that there will be other environments. Either way we do know that we've only seen gameplay, screenshots and information from the very beginning of the game. Your using this info and assuming that the entire game will be like that even though you seem to realise that the first killzone had more varied environments. People wouldn't attack you so much if you didn't make threads based on your own assumptions and try to downplay a game from them. True there are some crazzy ps3 fanboys who scream this game looks better then crysis and that it will destroy the 360 etc. but the only people who say such bullcrap are well known idiotic sony FANBOYS and are labled as such so using the "it's ok for me to post this because of other fanboy comments" doesn't aprove your thread. If you make a fanboy thread or post with little more then assumptions to back you up you'll be labled just like them. Two wrongs don't make a right. The fact that you make a thread about "why would anyone want to invade helghast" and do little more then attack the color pallete instead of asking the actual question is very trollish. Your "real" question was answered but you've still only gone on and on about the color pallete and your assumptions of what the final game may be like based on two levels of the game.

this is some real hate before the game comes out

VGChartz happens to be a place that is buzzing about it far more than the rest of the world.  You can say it is hate, but do you call talk of KZ2 having better graphics than Crysis balanced?

I never said I agreed with the article.  some people are pretty hyped about this game.  But honestly look what you are doing.  you are getting upset and blasting a game before it has even reached shelves.
