To the OP. You have some points but seem to be a bit short sighted. Videogames, yes are meant to be fun but they are also supposed to be involving and allow you to experience things you might not otherwise experience. To create an environment in which you feel involved in and influence is a part of great design. My point is highlighted by Halo 3, yes it could be fun but i did not feel i was really achieving anything story wise because all the aliens are bright and well, rubbish. So i found the game boring and no intensity meant i was not feeling satisfied.
People seem to talk as graphics as "textures and colours" , well this is bollocks. Crysis might have great textures and everything looks super dooper but it can not compete for atmosphere and emotion which is what Killzone 2 does in masses. This is why Killzone 2's graphics are better as they pull you in and make you apart of the game where as Crysis just looks really good.
Point in case, Gears 2 has a dull colour pallet and pretty average story but people still love it. People need to appreciate what good art in graphics is really about.

They develop a game that pushes visuals, then people get exited which causes hype. The better the visuals the more hype. Sony and Geurilla can not win anyway. The fact there are so many posts means thay must be doing something right.

Not knowing the story and what lies in wait = Great. Lets explore.
