Forums - Gaming - Killzone 2: Why would anyone want to invade Helghast?

I think papflesge ended this thread.

Today I was asking myself why would an army wear those lights in the eyes, in war it's just suicide. An enemy can see them from a far distance =|.

Anyway you can't question the history if you haven't play the game yet.

They were designed to look intimidating; red eyes and the rest of their outfit all black.

@ OP, I don't think they were looking to create an artistic surrounding, in one of the videos you hear the soldiers saying that they were sure they were going to defeat the Helghast easily but clearly it doesn't go as planned. I think they try to make you feel like there isn't much hope of survival and that is why everything is dark. Whatever it is, there is obviously a reason fo why it's not bright like Halo.

If your question is serious, they are not invading Helgan to gain control of the land, but to destroy the army. It is an offensive move to protect their own survival. I suspect that you really don't care about the KZ2 story, but are just trying to find an interesting way to say something negative about a game that will not appear on your console.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

because the Helghans attacked them first and the ISA are retaliating. I'm guessing its a rhetorical question but thats your answer.

Wasn't retaliation the motivation of the Helghans for attacking first?  I feel there will be a "war is wrong" "end the cycle of violence" message that will pop up in the game somewhere.

Like has been said before, the helghast attacked the ISA in the first game. This game is about the ISA going on the offensive and attacking back. Also, as was said before, in the first game was gray and brown just like this one but there were also varied environments including a very colorful level. It has been confirmed that there will be different environments and that we have only seen the beginning of the game. To reiterate, you don't know shit and war isn't rainbows and lolipops.

@ richard: if so, so what? :-/

We know little about the story, yet you are trying to put it down already. R2 also continues the war against the Chimera, and it doesn't exactly have "stop the cycle of violence".

Luckily we have such intricate and wonderful storylines in Gears of War, where they do not just tread down the clichés of the genre?

Luckily, the US didn't think "oh, wait, Iraq is a desert... let's not go there, it's too bland for us".
Luckily, Israel thought "it's about time to end the cycle of violence"...

Yeah, but KillZone 2 needs to bashed...

Oh, someone complaining about the KZ2 colors, never been done before...
